As smegballs writes.....its a load of military illiterate populists trying to get others to make an emotional decision bqsed on 'perceived' social sentiment.
theres enough tech n bombs there at the moment.perhaps if the UK/US military blood sacrifice machine had done somthing properly a year ago then we would nt be here now.
Remember kids.....its not about IS ,its about removing the dictator Assad.
On a purely capitalist/pragmatic note.......would nt it be easier and cheaper to pay Russia to bomb IS? ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Us joining the other 12 countries currently dropping bombs in Syria would be a political gesture rather than a strategic military decision. It will backfire in the long run however as it always does - we may kill a few of the scum but you can be sure we will kill a lot more innocents in the process, thus breeding further hate for the West and more terrorism. It is exactly what IS/ISIS/ISIL or whatever the hell they call themselves wants. You can't defeat an ideology with bombs.
What we need to do instead is stop the bombing and start a combined strategy of localised, intelligence-lead raids on strongholds, whilst at the same time making muslims hate ISIS more than the West via propaganda.
This would be far better than just repeating mistakes we have made many times post WWII.... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Considering the outcome of the West bombing and interfering the Middle East in the past (which has caused a lot of the current situation people are so concerned about), i'm not convinced sending a few knackered Tornado's to drop some token bomb's is going to make much difference; if anything it might make us even worse off.
Something Einstein said nicely sums up our Middle East escapades
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". |

We've got no lofty ideals, and no interest in destroying ISIS. They are pets of the Saudis, Turks and Western intelligence since day 1.
If we really wanted to destroy ISIS we would have aided the Assad government in regaining control, and coordinated and assisted the Russians in their air offensive.
The ideal is to topple Assad, it always has been. Anything else is just PR to feed some scraps to the masses. If ISIS or any other re-branding of NATO's Arab legion targets a city or other target in the West then it's still good, since they can use the public support gained from the attack to implement more draconian measures at home, against any dissenting members of the populace or spin to blame Assad, Russia, Iran or wherever. Unless the Blair/Cameron/Rothschild family are killed in any attack, then the real controllers don't give a fuck. Who cares if a few sheep get slaughtered? They're meaningless, and there's plenty more. Blair and Cameron are even expendable once they're past their sell by date. All any mass casualties are good for is playing the Mighty Wurlitzer of public opinion and stealing a good photo op for the TV and newspapers. Obama might even get in another selfie.

Some ex Foreign Minister on Sunday Politics was saying there were 70,000 anti Assad moderates to use as the 'on the ground army'.
Really? What world do the politicians live in thinking they are all going to happily join together and do what we tell them.

Look all we need to do is this WE NEED TO STOP PRETENDING TO BOMB ISIS. Yes NATO/US have been pretending to carry out air strikes. Consider for a moment how ISIS a few months ago could have mile long columns of trucks with black flags on them. Like this:
https://buzzpo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/isis-truck-convoy-anbar-province.jpg
(May Anbar)
A huge column of Toyota Hilux trucks with black flags
Now consider 1991 and the highway of death in Iraq.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway_of_Death
The USAF can utterly devastate 3000 armoured vehicles in a period of a couple of days using 1970s technology. They used A6 intruders Vietnam vintage a few A-10s and a few Apaches.
Yet they can't hit a gigantic mile long column of trucks with ISIS flags on them like this:
https://buzzpo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/isis-truck-convoy-anbar-province.jpg
Consider how ISIS gets its money from exporting oil. Oil tankers are you know big. Yet nobody was bombing them for years. Or think about oil installations, these things are huge. Bomb those too.
The Russians are scary to ISIS and the US because they are actually bombing for real. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Given its all so corrupt we either call America out on its dodgy relationship with the gulf states or we just keep the fuck out of it altogether, save shed loads of cash and spend it on homeland based anti-terror policing. |
