Any boots you like plus Sealskinz
I got a pair of these a few Christmas' ago and rode with them in a regular pair of spidi. Properly waterproof socks (although they feel a bit odd to wear) |

Thisisa good suggestion.
I have these, round around Europe and used them almost daily for 2 years on/off the bike. You can stand in a puddle up to your ankles and not get wet (I've tried, can confirm) and they're comfy enough for walking around in. I've used them for hiking and they did very well.
Unfortunately, I came off the bike at around 30mph and took off some leather at the tip, so they're no longer waterproof. I'll be picking up another pair soon. |

Gore-Tex lined army surplus boots, £30 delivered.
Mine are now 5 years old and have been worn very nearly every day, on and off the bike, in all weathers, including slogging ankle deep through a highland peat bog in a lashing gale. They are now close to wearing through the soles, but have never let in a single drop of water[*].
You can pay 6 times as much to add some ankle support but I would be astonished if you'll find anything more waterproof.
[*] Barring one freak incident where I jetted a deep puddle right up inside my elasticated trouser cuff and it bounced back down inside the boot. |
This x100. I've got two pairs and they are solid, waterproof and comfortable. I've had two offs in them and they've been fine. Been through some torrential rain and many puddles but remained bone dry throughout. They don't look like Julian Clairy's hand-me-downs either as most bike boots do nowadays. ____________________ Current - Harley Davidson FXDB Street Bob | Harley Davidson FLTR Road Glide | Harley Davidson Road King

Are they the same as the 'waterproof socks' on the bay of E? ____________________ The above comment isn't necessarily the truth and anyone that says it is, is only correct if it's the truth or they're bigger than me. |

Same as, probably not. Lookalike rip off, probably.
Original Sealskinz are properly waterproof and breathable, waterproof socks on fleabay - who knows? You may find some MOD surplus ones cheaper. ____________________ stinkwheel: He had an animated .gif of a cat performing fellatio. It's not socially acceptable. I tried Sealskinz for pedal cycling in the wet.
They do work and your feet will come out dry. However, you're still wearing cold, wet, squidgy socks and it feels like your feet are damp, so the actual comfort factor isn't brilliant. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

So those of you that actually use the surplus boots which ones do you recommend.
There are so many. Para boots, pro boots, haix (brown) boots.
How comfortable are these wearing all day at work. ____________________ yzf 600r |

I don't use any of the fancy stuff, just the basic generic (Goretex lined) squaddie boot.

Fine. I'm not going to say they're magic orthopaedic wünderbooten, but they're made to be worn all day. I don't wear anything else.
I mean, on my feet, I do quite often wear other clothes. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I'be been reading up on the trusty pro boots crumbling (arrse) as they apparently have a shelf life of 5 years.
