I have won a scottoiler on ebay for 19.99 it does not come with all the required parts however I am now trying to work out what parts I need and work out if it's worth me buying another unit with all the required parts or not.
Here is a screen shot of the add the description is vague 'what you see in pics is what you get'.

So far I have:
Nib £4.99
Vacume tube £5.79
Vacume damper £5.99
Is there anything else I need to make it work? So far I am at £36.76 including the price of the scotroiler its self. |

If this is for your fazer (carb) then you don't need any of those parts.
What you need is some tubing to connect to your carb vacuum nipple. Then you need some 2mm tube. You need to mate them somehow as the vacuum nipple IIRC is 5-6mm while the tube which goes into the top of the scotoiler is 2mm diameter. You can drill a small rubber bung or use silicone as the vacuum draw is tiny.
The nib is just a thick white straw and a 2mm thick black straw which tapers into a small 2mm tube which contains a bit of metal like a paperclip. BTW the nib tube is the same tube they use to connect to the vacuum knuckle but containing the paper clip.
My scotoiler end fell off somewhere in Yorkshire. I simply replaced it with the above for the distribution nib. You can cable tie it on or use some self taping screws and drill the swing arm and a small U shaped bit of metal to hold the tube in place. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The parts are as follows
A holds the oil tube and the nib just before it goes onto your sprocket.
B is the nib and or vacuum hose (same pipe type but the vacuum house should be longer of course)
C connects to the carb vacuum
D either clips the scotoiler tank in place or holds a tube in place
E are additional oil pipe connectors if yours blocks or snaps (they never do)
F is thin metal you can put on your rear spindle in case you want to use that as a mounting for the nib. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Goto Scotoiler's webpage and you will find more than enough info on install and set up.
Just look for your system.
Don't try to 'Slack-Hand full' the setting as Scottoiler seem to know wot they're on about. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |
