In my youth if we wanted money we would take the initiative into our own hands and gobble a few sailors for half a crown each.

It's just obfuscation. Bad resume-speak. Basically what a smart mouth says/types when he hasn't got anything of substance to say but wants to convince people otherwise.

OP doesn't mention any specifics and is just waffling fancy hot air.

You set a kickstarter and cannot be arsed to give anything back to your backers, way to go, all the language flourishes do not hide the fact that all you are saying is "stupid people let me con you out of two grand"

I was not going to but after seeing all the negative replies I thought I would come to the poor lads defence.

I have read your charity begging webpage and I have come to a few conclusions and have a few questions.

Do you have any experience in media? As you will be intending to start a blog I would have thought some basic experience in media would be a good thing to have mentioned as you do want us to essentially buy al your gear for you. What are we investing in exactly?

Which brings me onto this:

ArcanPhox wrote:

I am an 18 year old

At 18 years old what views on the current world events could you possibly have? At 18 years old all you are interested in is smoking weed and getting drunk. You do not care about the world as long as long as your little bit of it is fine and you get what you want (from us it seems with the amount you want to raise)

ArcanPhox wrote:
I have been riding since I turned 16 on a 50cc V-Clic. These days I am riding a YZF R-125.

You have been riding for 2 years and currently riding on a 125 "crotch rocket" as you termed it. With all that experience riding around I look forward to some fantastic videos.

Quote:
As far as risks go, there are very little to no risks involved. I already ride daily, the only difference would be that now I would be documenting it.

You ride in London on a 125cc motorcycle on L plates with some of the most aggressive drivers in the UK and you claim there is little to no risk involved. I've ridden in London a couple of times. The place is full of risk. I know a few guys on here who have been knocked off their bike in London and they have been riding for more than your pitiful 2 years.

Quote:
I have a daily ride to and from Central London (near The City) from Heathrow Airport. This affords me the opportunity to catch the take-off/landings at Heathrow Airport which are always a sight to behold as well as the opportunity to pass through famous landmarks in London, including but not limited to:

The Mall
Buckingham Palace
Trafalgar Square (Featuring Nelson's Column and National Gallery)
National History Museum
Piccadilly Circus

Cant wait, sounds riveting. I have never seen these landmarks before.

I'll close with this little gem.

Quote:
Due to my age, I am currently limited to riding a motorbike with a maximum displacement of 125cc. As such, my current daily motorbike is a Yamaha YZF-R125. I will be able to move up to my A2 license early this summer and upgrade to a 300cc / limited 300cc+ motorbike.

As you are 18 years old I suspect the £2K you are after is not for starting a Vlog. As you said at the start, your have done some tests therefore you have some gear and I suspect mother dear bought you a Gopro for xmas last year. I strongly believe you are turning 19 very soon and you intend to use our money to pay for your A2 DAS course.

My advice would be get a job, stop sponging off others and asking them to pay for your shit. If you have a job, I cannot think of anything I would love to watch less than you going back and forward to work every day in Central London.

You didn't read the "Rewards" section, did you?

Your returns range from "Signed and hand-written thank you note!" for £5 up to "Flash Drive Madness! Receive a flash drive (USB stick) with footage of outtakes as well as music featured or considered for my vlogs!" for £40. Even more exciting, for only £25 you get "Skype/Viber/WhatsApp call where I directly address questions or suggestions you may have regarding my content or myself!".

Such generous.

I want to agree with Pink Floyd and say he's just after easy money for something else.

But the depth of detail and sheer stupidity of it makes me think otherwise. There must be a million other kickstarter ideas that a fraudster could go with. Riding an L-plated 125 on a generic commute into London is never going to work.

OP is real and therefore

Let's see it then. If you've any talent as a vlogger it will shine through and justify the purchase of better equipment.

This is like the guy who started a GoFundMe or something similar because he really wanted to ride a bike but couldn't afford it so the next logical step was to get everyone else to fund his dream.

Why is this becoming so popular now? Nobody seems to be prepared to put any effort into anything and seem to think they are entitled to have their dreams funded by others. OP needs to get off his lazy arse and make a demo video with a cheap cam first. If he has something that is Amazing! and Never Seen Before! it will shine through regardless of picture/audio quality, fleecing others for £2k isn't going to change his ability to be interesting.

FYI I hate vlogs with people talking all over them. I want to see new roads and countryside and listen to the engine rather than hear someone talk about bollocks.

Why? You need a camera. A microphone. A bike. And the ability to speak about random crap. You can get all that for under £100.

If you're struggling to make a 'showcase' thats any good, perhaps thats a sign vlogging isn't for you Whistle.

What is it that you're lacking by not having 2 grand in the bank? Are you planning to launch a firework display out of your headlight throughout the videos?

If you didn't expect the kickstarter to work then why are you spamming bike forums with it? your talking shite again, also an open face helmet on a sports rep WUT??.

You do realise there are literally thousand of wannabe motovloggers on youtube with the exact same target audience, infact i can remember at least 5 that have came on here saying the same thing pretty much word for word.

I would like to say im pleasantly surprised you haven't came on here throwing playround insults like usual with your reply Thumbs Up

If you want a GoPro Hero HD I have one here. You can ride over and grab it. Youll need to find a case, mount and bits but it's free.

I must find it first though.

Thread was made yesterday? Doh!

ArcanPhox wrote:
Absolutely, this is an issue that should have been clearly addressed. The main point is that the target audience is different. I don't intend to compete with RJ or BVG, my target viewers would be teens stating off, or in the progression up to their full license as they go through the new license system that shafts you in the arse without a hint of vaseline.

But you would be competing with them though because (1) you're both motovloggers on youtube (2) you're both in and around London.

ArcanPhox wrote:
There are many problems with cheaper gear, one of them being the peripherals. Mounts, cases, support, remote control capabilities, smartphone access etc. can only be exploited on a GoPro.

Bollox, do your market research ffs. See this as an example. It is a fake version of the "SJ 4000" of which is a fake copy of the GoPro but to prove your point untrue it's clearly advertised with all the accessories you could ever need.

ArcanPhox wrote:
Furthermore, the GoPro has technical specs which are purely superior. Even though a GoPro and a random 30GBP camera may both record at 1080p the record rate will be way worse, not even accounting for viewing angles and light sensitivity etc...

"Record rate", you mean FPS? (to my knowledge FPS is the same regardless, 30 FPS is 30 FPS). On the counter light sensitivity is indeed varied on what action camera you purchase. FYI GoPro 3+ isn't all that great at anything past 9:00pm (currently) due to winter darkness, don't be expecting miracle quality all the youtube videos you watched are edited. GoPro's out the box quality isn't great when it comes to youtube, is perfectly adequate for just watching the files though.

Funny that, was aimed at the younger riders of the motorcycling community, only without the sponging.

It's ashame as I was really looking forward to watching your videos.

Particularly; 'Along with my normal style of discussion type riding, my videos will feature my attempts at interacting with London pedestrians/drivers (those of you from London will know that talking to strangers in this cold city of ours is easier said than done). I am an outspoken and outgoing person so you can expect some interesting situations to unfold!

Furthermore, it is my intention to make my vlogs as age-sensitive as possible, therefore, all profanity will be censored/edited out, and as far as possible avoided. That being said, there are bound to be topics of discussion which are not suitable for younger audiences, and in such cases clear warnings shall be displayed so no-one is caught out by surprise.'

Perhaps start a thread up on mumsnet? Confused

Better off sticking to your imaginary land, princess. Laughing
