Nope: UK is an Abroadlander, we can skip the licensing questions.

You could go wrong, you could buy the Hyosung.

They're all right. A single cylinder will tend to have more low down torque and will pull better when you roll the throttle on. A twin will tend to rev higher and make more power once you've got the engine spinning fast.
Which one you prefer is just that: a matter of preference. You'll want to try them both and see which one tickles your fancy.

You'll get more wind blast on your chest and possibly head with a naked, upright bike, and that can get tiring. However, add-on screens are available if that's an issue. I've fitted a screen, or added a bigger screen to all my bikes.
The actual position is again a subjective decision. I don't like the sportsbike crouch, others love it for reasons that escape me.
The tl;dr version is that there's no right or wrong answer (except the Hyosungs). If you get a bike and enjoy it, then it was the right choice for you. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Personally I would look for a 500/600cc bike, there's far more to choose from. |
Don't live in the US/UK. My license allows me a motorcycle with up-to 47 HP.
In that category, I can get a 250/300 or a gimped 500/650 for twice the price.
Doesn't seem worth it, IMHO. I'll wait a year and get the highest license.

Googled it, but no idea what this means.

I see. So, a single-cylinder will require less force to operate, thus granting a quicker torque, while the dual-cylinder will take more force/time but will eventually get you to higher speeds.
Judging by that, I'd say the latter seems more beneficial. I don't see why getting to 100KM/h in 'X' seconds is more important than having a superior maximum speed, especially when handling dangerous evasions by overtaking vehicle drivers.
I live in Israel and people here drive like fucking maniacs.
This includes motorcycle riders too, btw. I was doing 140KM/h and got overtaken from both sides by motorcycles doing at least 180KM/h on an intercity highway.

Well, on a motorcycle you're still crouching significantly compared to a scooter, so you're about halfway there.
The way I see it:
Electric Bike/Scooter - Sitting upright.
Regular Bike/Motorcycle - Half crouching.
Road Bike/Sportsbike - Full crouching.
Why do people prefer the full crouch? My guess was that it just has to make a huge difference at speeds above 140 KM/h.
I mean, if you could just install a screen to prevent all backlash, I really don't see why anyone would ride full crouch.
Then again.. that's what I said before I got my road bike. Couldn't understand how anybody would want to NOT sit upright.
I'm gonna go try another half-crouch bike (the Suzuki GW250) in a few hours and I'll see how it feels at top speeds.

Mhm. But by your logic, if I enjoy the Hyosung then it ISN'T the wrong choice.
I would appreciate it if you explained why you dislike them so much. Seemed better than Suzuki to me. |

Not sure you've got that quite right. A single has its peak torque at lower revs, meaning it will pick up speed better than a twin if you gradually open the throttle without changing down a gear or two. In a twin, if you change down, you can still access the peak torque quickly and then open the throttle to accelerate. Whether one accelerates more than the other is down to the specific design and capability of each.

Its a blend of both acceleration and speed. To consider hypothetical extremes... For overtaking, a bike with a high top speed isn't much good if it accelerates like a truck, and one that accelerates to a lower top speed in 0.5 seconds is also not much use if it can't reach a higher speed than the traffic it's being asked to pass. Any bike around 47bhp should have enough acceleration and top speed to be able to overtake most traffic. The twin/single thing is more about how you want the power to become available. |

I like things that accelerate like a truck though!
There's nothing better than when you have a big capacity and powerful Diesel engine in an empty large vehicle, and then put it into top gear at 30-40mph and floor it, it's like a big hand is constantly pushing you hard but steadily faster all the way through the power band. |
