Hmm, I can't tell if part 21 is an adjustable stop-screw limiting the travel of the lever, or if it's holding the pedal in place in the lever. Either way, see if you can find it and figure out what it does: either turn it to adjust the pedal height, or undo it to remove and re-orient the pedal.
After you adjust the pedal (or to give yourself some slack to do so) you'll want to adjust the tension in the cable and brake arm at the rear of the cable as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzEjZdbV9qo ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Is there a lot of travel in the pedal before the rear brake engages? Or is the rear brake binding at all? If so, adjust it at the rear of the cable as shown in that video.
However, if the pedal is just sitting high, and it's not obviously bent, and the brake is engaging just fine, then... I'm not sure. It doesn't look splined. What is it attached to at the front end of the cable, and how?
Pics oot fur the lads. |
The end of it is splined, it's the other way to my TDM where the lever is female.
I'm guessing there is an arm that attaches to the lever the other side of the mount, there'll be a bolt on it, take that out pull it off and readjust it correctly. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Yup, it's splined, here's a better picture.

OK, easy peasy then, bolt 21 will be sitting in the groove between the splined parts and holding the pedal in place. Remove that bolt and the pedal will pull straight out, rotate it to where you want it, push it back in and replace the bolt. No need to touch the adjustment at the rear, although you may want to check it while you're at it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You're right, however it's all dependent on what position the rear break arm has been fitted to the splined shaft on the rear brake cam.
If this is not lined up, with the mark on the brake cam, you'll never get the correct pedal height/angle with enough movement!
The set up in the diagram is, as near as damn it, the same as my XL125. I can guarantee if you don't line up the punch mark on the rear brake cam/actuator you will never align the pedal, I know this from personal experience. During my rebuild, I didn't realise this and spent, fcukin', ages trying to line everything up.
OP, you need to check the alignment of the arm on the rear brake cam/actuator arm! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

So, first chance I've had to have a good look. I've removed the pedal and had a look. The reason the pedal was too high seems to be the piece of metal under the footpeg, that stops the pedal rising was bent very high. I've bent this down and seems to have solved the problem. Am trying to put the pedal back in, but think I might have bent the spline a bit, it won't properly go in Have had enough for today, will look at it tomorrow. I can get the pedal inbetween the two splined bits, but can't knock it entirely in. Extremely frustrating |
