Indicator / sidelight issues

Hi all, I've got a 2003 deauville which was been in the garage for 3 weeks but mechanics are struggling to fix fault.

basically when I start up bike the sidelight is on all the time. Indicators work fine and flash as normal. However, when I turn lights on for both sidelight or headlight the indicators stop flashing and stay lit.

Any suggestions? Garage have already replaced indicator relay with no change.

I don't think sidelight should be on when switch is off. is this correct for a 2003 model?

Could be an internal problem in the combination switch, or a bad earth somewhere.

It would help to know if it was like this when you got the bike, or if happened after another event - like you dropped it, changed the bulbs, lent it to a mate, etc.

If the garage replaced something for free, that suggests some sort of warranty - in which case, I would let them get on with it.

Been like this since I bought the bike in summer 2015. Garage have replaced relay trying to find fault. They weren't the original sellers.

Not impressed with your mechanics

I assume its the carb version with linked brakes and pre 'always on' lights?
It shouldn't be that hard to find and fix the fault with a meter and relevant wiring diagram but a good start would be to get some switch cleaner and open/check/clean all the multi connectors from the bar switches and squish some the switches too.
