What lube for cable and any do's and don'ts when lubing up?

If it is nylon lined only use WD40, if it is unlined run 3in1 oil down it.

Cut it in half and see if there is a plastic sleeve between the inner and outer.

"It even removes grease"

I wouldn't use it for this reason. It may lubricate briefly, but it doesn't have any staying power and leaves it dryer after a while than before you used it.

3 in 1 or similar for cables. Dab of grease on exposed cables.

I take the cable out at the lever end, attach a duct tape funnel about 25 mm high, fill with 3 in 1 oil and leave upright overnight, wipe excess away next morning and reattach cable.

Silkolene silkopen. It leaves a graphite film on the cables, I go about 12 months between lubing cables with this stuff

I don't have any Shocked . I actually had to go and have a look!

Hydraulic brake and clutch and fly by wire throttle Thumbs Up

When I did I used one of these

I always use 3 in 1. Seems to do the job.

I use GT85 silicone spray lubricant and one of these.
