Well as he stands the bike up the rear seems to swing over to his left up to the point he's launched by the grass island. Still he ran out of skill & luck.

Nope, he went too fast on a road not too familiar to him. It is pretty common for people to blindly ride fast on roads they do not know, then there's the 8 o'clock breaking-news for you. Wink

It's got nothing to do with luck nor skill. It's all about knowing where you are going and being reasonable.

Why did you not underline the ''not too familiar to him''? That's the key element to this crash. If he knew the road, he would have known there was a bump in that corner and wouldn't go like that.

You can hear the knock there, gravel wouldn't do that, unless he went over a pile of rocks.

So true. I stopped riding like a c@ck and for some reason stopped having accidents all the time.

FZR400 (blown engine), ZXR750 (blown engine), ZX6R (accident), CBR600 which had engine issues after which I learned to change gear..., CBR900, CBR924 (stolen), CB600, CB1300 (everything blew up), BMW K1300GT (written off, hit from rear while stationary), Bandit 1250 for a couple of months, Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (nicked) and somewhere in there, I wrote off a Ducati 748 at Cadwell.

Aye. For any noobs reading this thread, be aware the very first thing you should do when you find your motorcycle careering towards a wall at high speed is close the throttle. Not keep it pinned until the bike is airborne.

I reckon he was just going way too fast. It seemed to be a 90-degree-ish sort of turn to me. And the fact he flew that far off on impact suggests it really was some speed.

I think he did try to scrub speed too, you see him grab the brake and clutch, and just before he hits the grass it looks as if the fuel tank sways to one side of the screen which suggests the back wheel locked up either from hard braking or shifting to much lower gear.

His own daft fault either way though.
