I'm not sure he'd have got round the corner anyway.

Well as he stands the bike up the rear seems to swing over to his left up to the point he's launched by the grass island. Still he ran out of skill & luck.

Nope, he went too fast on a road not too familiar to him. It is pretty common for people to blindly ride fast on roads they do not know, then there's the 8 o'clock breaking-news for you. Wink

It's got nothing to do with luck nor skill. It's all about knowing where you are going and being reasonable.

So he no longer had enough skill to deal with likely situations like grave on the road. Running out of luck would be something like having gravel across the road or a bump in the wrong place Wink

Why did you not underline the ''not too familiar to him''? That's the key element to this crash. If he knew the road, he would have known there was a bump in that corner and wouldn't go like that.

You can hear the knock there, gravel wouldn't do that, unless he went over a pile of rocks.

I'm not going to argue with you, you won, I'm done.

@Ste, yes, not being a completely care less idiot would be considered a skill. Razz

Hmm... would have tried to make it up the road to the right, or just not ridden like a cock in the first place.

I like videos like this. It makes me feel safer knowing that these guys probably make up a decent portion of the accident statistics.

So true. I stopped riding like a c@ck and for some reason stopped having accidents all the time.

I wish people would post things like this on youtube rather than failbook.

The comments are much more entertaining.

If he couldn't make the turn why not resort to pointing down the bit of road he could see while trying to scrub speed?

Lack of Skill / Talent? Massive blind and misplaced faith in one or both of the former?

A darwinistic level of target fixation?

Aye. For any noobs reading this thread, be aware the very first thing you should do when you find your motorcycle careering towards a wall at high speed is close the throttle. Not keep it pinned until the bike is airborne.

I reckon he was just going way too fast. It seemed to be a 90-degree-ish sort of turn to me. And the fact he flew that far off on impact suggests it really was some speed.

I think he did try to scrub speed too, you see him grab the brake and clutch, and just before he hits the grass it looks as if the fuel tank sways to one side of the screen which suggests the back wheel locked up either from hard braking or shifting to much lower gear.

His own daft fault either way though.
