That in the post MT-09 era, it's about £2,500 overpriced and 25kg overweight. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Fair comment, but £2,500 better? I guess if you're considering finance then it might not be that far apart monthly.
I'm just spitballing here, I'm far too tight to consider paying £10K for any bike and would just look for reasons to cheap-out. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Side by side, on the road they are pretty equal in most situations.
I'll agree the Honds is more refined.. But also been told it's boring and bland by a couple of Ex owners. I'm yet to find anyone who has called the MT bland.
It's not perfect but it's not bland and besides, if you was really that bothered by the perfectly average suspension you could stick ohlins back and front and still have enough change for a few tanks of fuel.
The Honda has a nice back wheel/swing arm. That is all I like ____________________ Yamaha MT-09 - Triple powerrrr |

The seat on mine gave me arse ache and it guzzled petrol.
Wouldnt say the CB is boring, it has loads of grunt. Brakes and handling are fine. |

Yep, pretty much like every other Honda.
A perfectly good bike, just not £10k worth. |
Have to agree with these sentiments. Just seen a BMW S1000R with just over 2k miles on the clock in a dealer's for £9.5k - I don't know what they go for new, but I'd find it hard to justify going for even a new CB over that. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

My issue isn't about the CB1000 vs MT09 as such (I actually prefer the Honda), it's about Honda's ridiculous pricing in general.
In 2008 I test rode the Bandit 1250 back-to-back with the Honda CBF1000 – both very, very similar bikes at a very, very similar price.
Now, fast forward a handful of years and while the Suzuki is a smidge over £7k, suddenly the Honda is £10k. Now, given that they're both still pretty much the same bikes, it's hard to see how the Honda suddenly became worth almost 50% more than the Suzuki.
It just doesn't compute. And it seems to be like that pretty much across the Honda range.
Trouble is, once you're spending £10k the motorcycle world is still pretty much your oyster and there is plenty else (pretty much everything else) you can buy for that sort of money. ____________________ Suzuki Bandit 1250
