It was dangerous but 2 years seems totally disproportionate to other sentences.
You watch all these police chase programs on tv where they are ramming multiple police cars, driving along the pavement, the wrong way along the motorway in a stolen car whilst throwing wraps of heroin out of the window. Then at the end of the program you find out they got 6 months. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

It is probably a good idea to leave the camera at home rather than filming yourself breaking the law. As for the sentence, it does sound stiff but the sentence can be based on all sorts of things other than the actual crime.........previous, behaviour in court, how good your brief is, the cut of ones jib etc.
EDIT: Forgot to mention amongst the "mitigating circumstances" wether or not the judge had managed to shag some 12 year old that morning ____________________ Space Is Deep

He was stupid for filming it, well and riding like that in the first place but it was effectively a victimless crime.
Surely it should be treated and punished in the same way that blatant drink driving is when there is no actual accident but he has put people at risk.
Maybe he didn't show remorse and was an idiot in court or whatever, but to me it seems like he's had about 18 months added onto his sentence. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

"When the card was viewed, it showed more than 150 clips of him on his motorbike. Many of these clips recorded him riding in a manner that showed a blatant disregard for the safety of himself or other road users."
Owwww. Owwwwwwwwww. Why would you do that?
It's so simple really, all you've got to do is not ride around with quite so much incriminating evidence on your camera.
Do try not to make it quite so easy for the police and the courts! |

Was he riding like a cock? Yes
Does he deserve to be punished? Absolutely
Lose his licence? Definitely
Worthy of 2 years in prison? I dont bloody think so...
Every time you watch some "reality" police TV show, you always see Little Johnny Fucknuts McScrotum whos been arrested 782 times before, mugs grannies, shoplifts, stabs kittens and sells crack to schoolkids, who gets a £50 fine and 3 month suspended sentence... yet some bloke who pops a few wheelies and rides a bit fast, gets 2 years in prison?
And yet when an (off duty) police woman kills a biker because shes chatting on her phone, she doesnt go to prison?
Our justice system is a joke.
Old codgers hate bikers for some reason. Judges tend to always be old codgers. My 2p anyway |

Speeding/dangerous driving/careless driving and the ilk are crimes you are convicted of due to what COULD happen not what has happened.
If you do 150 on the motorway you are likely to go to jail, even if you are riding/driving in a perfectly safe manner. You could have killed kittens. You didn't but the potential was there. (funny how it's perfectly safe on the autobahn in Germany though ).
That bloke is an utter dick for the way he was riding and for filming it but he didn't actually hurt anyone. 2 years is more the sentence I would expect if he had caused an accident, not the potential to cause an accident.
But hey ho, it's an easy cop, makes the plod look good and most car drivers will be smugly thinking what society wants them to think - Bloody dangerous bikers, should be banned. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

If you went out while banned for drink driving in a massive car that you'd insured fraudulently, smashed into the back of a 16 year old moped rider, smeared her along the road, then driven off while she lay dying, you'd get exactly two years for dangerous driving.
You'd also get another 4 years for repairing your car afterwards, because apparently that's a far more serious offence. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I transfer footage to PC and I re format my bike cam memory card after every ride. If they are going to get me
it won't be for something I did months ago, just whatevers on the camera. I suppose this could be a pain if you use your
bike as anything other than a toy when the weathers nice mind you. Sounds like the guy was keeping his 'maddest moments'
on video to show off to people how he isn't a typical 60 year old cos he's been giving it large on his Viffer.
Old age makes men (and women, but mostly men) do stupid things to try and convince themselves there's still lead
in the pencil. At his age I'll be looking at 4 wheeled exotica to lose my licence in, bikes are a young mans game.
Assuming I survive that long, I'll knock biking on the head time I'm 50 and go get a really really fast car instead. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Less chance for an oldie to end up potato maybe in a car, but I wouldn't want to rely on that theory at the kind of speeds you'd be wanting to do?
|
Hypercar, Supercar, Sportscar?
Probably a 911 if I'm completely honest, I've always promised myself one of those before I die, dunno what category
of car of that falls into, maybe just about supercar If I buy the right variant, but I would say some 911s are simply
'Sports' cars. I don't have kids so unless something pretty unlikely happens the whole grandchildren/space
thing is not of concern to me. Besides I'd have a sensible car or better yet a van too for normal plodding about.
I wouldn't use the 911 for nipping to Waitrose And it's not really a speed thing, probably more a comfort/speed ratio thing.
I dislike togging up in leathers and stuff now, never mind when I'm the age of that bloke with a spud up his arse
although he seems to enjoy it albeit for entirely different reasons.
I tolerate it currently because thrill factor over price is currently greater than discomfort factor over thrill but
in 7 years time I'd hope to be all but retired from the tools, and far less concerned about what £££ I chuck at cars
over how uncomfortable kitting up for a ride is. Besides, I reckon I'd probably survive a moderate mistake
on 4 wheels far more unscathed than a similar cock up on two. Having already survived an 80mph car collision
with a roundabout that I was travelling way too fast to ever expect to actually get around I can confirm
the same incident on two wheels would have surely killed me . That crash shook me up a bit and slowed me
down a lot. I would have already killed a bike or two by now and probably myself if I hadn't learned that
lesson surrounded by metal, glass and airbags. It was a good essentially pain free (although the repairs to the car
cost me 5k) lesson to learn before embarking on my DAS in 2014. In the big scale of things it's a good thing it
happened, I was the only casualty (though there's a huge chunk out of the kerbstone still ) and even that
was only financially speaking. The lesson learned though may have already saved me my life, I'll never know?
I might get an old plodder if I'm a still sprightly at 50, but I won't count my chickens, I feel pretty tired most of the time now. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
