It was dangerous but 2 years seems totally disproportionate to other sentences.
You watch all these police chase programs on tv where they are ramming multiple police cars, driving along the pavement, the wrong way along the motorway in a stolen car whilst throwing wraps of heroin out of the window. Then at the end of the program you find out they got 6 months.

It is probably a good idea to leave the camera at home rather than filming yourself breaking the law. As for the sentence, it does sound stiff but the sentence can be based on all sorts of things other than the actual crime.........previous, behaviour in court, how good your brief is, the cut of ones jib etc.

EDIT: Forgot to mention amongst the "mitigating circumstances" wether or not the judge had managed to shag some 12 year old that morning

He was stupid for filming it, well and riding like that in the first place but it was effectively a victimless crime.
Surely it should be treated and punished in the same way that blatant drink driving is when there is no actual accident but he has put people at risk.

Maybe he didn't show remorse and was an idiot in court or whatever, but to me it seems like he's had about 18 months added onto his sentence.

I reckon it's the huge number of offences. In addition to the four counts of dangerous driving (for which he got 6 months each) it sounds like the 150 clips showed numerous other stuff which he wasn't charged with - e.g. a few dozen overtakes across double white lines. So the beak had a sense of humour failure and threw the book at him. Maybe he can get the sentence reduced on appeal? Doesn't seem right that he does time while burglars can rob dozens of houses and get community service.

Every time you watch some "reality" police TV show, you always see Little Johnny Fucknuts McScrotum whos been arrested 782 times before, mugs grannies, shoplifts, stabs kittens and sells crack to schoolkids, who gets a £50 fine and 3 month suspended sentence... yet some bloke who pops a few wheelies and rides a bit fast, gets 2 years in prison?

And yet when an (off duty) police woman kills a biker because shes chatting on her phone, she doesnt go to prison?

Our justice system is a joke.

Speeding/dangerous driving/careless driving and the ilk are crimes you are convicted of due to what COULD happen not what has happened.

If you do 150 on the motorway you are likely to go to jail, even if you are riding/driving in a perfectly safe manner. You could have killed kittens. You didn't but the potential was there. (funny how it's perfectly safe on the autobahn in Germany though ).

That bloke is an utter dick for the way he was riding and for filming it but he didn't actually hurt anyone. 2 years is more the sentence I would expect if he had caused an accident, not the potential to cause an accident.

But hey ho, it's an easy cop, makes the plod look good and most car drivers will be smugly thinking what society wants them to think - Bloody dangerous bikers, should be banned.

I transfer footage to PC and I re format my bike cam memory card after every ride. If they are going to get me
it won't be for something I did months ago, just whatevers on the camera. I suppose this could be a pain if you use your
bike as anything other than a toy when the weathers nice mind you. Sounds like the guy was keeping his 'maddest moments'
on video to show off to people how he isn't a typical 60 year old cos he's been giving it large on his Viffer.
Old age makes men (and women, but mostly men) do stupid things to try and convince themselves there's still lead
in the pencil. At his age I'll be looking at 4 wheeled exotica to lose my licence in, bikes are a young mans game.
Assuming I survive that long, I'll knock biking on the head time I'm 50 and go get a really really fast car instead.

I reckon the guy wanted to get himself nicked for one of any number of reasons personal to him.

If cops seized a cam, you could say it was brother/sister, friend, neighbour, dad etc, borrowing the bike or taking anyway for an illegal hoon.

Given the situation of the guy, id deny everything and or say anything to get myself off the hook, just as I would for handling stolen goods, robbing, or causing harm or injury or intimidation to other humans etc.

TBH I don't see your points or what difference it make tooling around in a fast car as opposed to a bike?

Less chance for an oldie to end up potato maybe in a car, but I wouldn't want to rely on that theory at the kind of speeds you'd be wanting to do?

Oh and are you talking supercar when you say swap bike for car? Many older people want more space in a vehicle as they get older (to carry stuff for hobbies/interests/ grandchildren and their shit/ or mobility devices aids) and prefer perceived safety and also the higher driving position of 4x4s and even more so soft roaders and crossovers.

I'm certain I wont want a cramped two seater sports car or supercar when I'm 60> I had enough of 2seaters in my 20's and like ordinary cars and classics now. It's also why the traditional kit car has never appealed to me too.
