Yamaha xj6 exhausts

HI guys

I've recently bought a yamaha xj6 N and it has the standard exhaust on and I'm looking to buy a full aftermarket can like the arrow?

I'm just wondering is it a straight swap of or is there and 02 sensors or anything?

Also does anybody know where I can buy just the downpipes as I like the look of the mivv double gun exhaust but I can only find a slip on of that and not a full system?

This is going back a couple of years, but when I was considering swapping out the exhaust on my XJ6 Diversion, I was told it would need to be a complete system swap because whacking an end-can onto the shoebox sized catalytic converter underneath means you still get sod all sound.

System-wise, I know a couple of years ago it was only a couple of places that did it and it was a good few grand. This might have changed by now, but from what I was told then, that you couldn't just bang on a set of any old downpipes. Someone I knew was tinkering with a set of R1 downpipes to fit, but I don't know what came of it. I was given the distinct impression that not an awful lot was available for the XJ6, probably because the amount of people willing to sink 4k on a new exhaust system are probably few and far between.

If you want just the look of an exhaust without the noise, you can get end cans to fit the XJ.

If you want the extra noise factor, the whole lot needs doing and that isn't (or at least when I looked, it wasn't) cheap.

When I had an 2012 ER6f it was the same sort of deal. The stock exhaust was 1 piece front to back, but there was something you could do..
The older bikes (<2011) had a 2 piece exhaust so you could buy downpipes from an earlier model cheap from ebay then add the end can of your choice.
The other option I saw on youtube, and you'll like this, was someone taking a long, big drill to the cat and drilling through the tip of the exhaust down into the cat to remove some sound suppressant - It worked..! After about a year or so I started seeing complete systems coming down in price and got a yoshi system for about £700.
Worth noting, you'll probably need a lambda bung welder on or plug in jumper for the wiring harness and, of course, a power commander to get the full benefit.

Assuming you mean the new model XJ6's from 2009(?) onwards, as you know it's a complete system swap, I put a full Arrow system on mine for £700. It was more than I wanted to pay for it but the original thin steel system was rotting away after a winter's hard use.

It just bolted straight on, there is a sensor in the original that you remove, and it screws into the new exhaust. Make sure the specs for the new exhaust state it has mounting for the Lambda sensor, I think you can get models without it.

The Arrow is held on at the rear by a kind of crappy(ish) bracket that attaches to your rear footpeg hangers, it doesn't look awful but it could be better.

I also saw discussions about using R6 downpipes, but it would all require a lot of tinkering and bodging to get them to fit.
