Looking for ideas around an issue im having. I cannot find m11 bolts in the length i need -_-

long story short, the crash bungs i got from santa did not come with bolts long enough to fit. they don't specifically make crash bungs for the gpz500 so its a case of using one that will fit that were designed for another bike. The bolts that came with them are around 1.5 cms too short for me to consider safe.. ie have adequate thread for the self lock nut

i've looked at finding 7/16 bolts but am still struggling. Am i missing some awesome-o bolt place or do i need to go get these custom made?

yes, they're defo 11mm.. m10 is probably going to have too much play and m12 is unlikely going to fit.

Check it against the sizes in this table to confirm it is M11 x 1.5.

Rare as rockinghorse poo though.

7/16 are easy to get. Just make sure you have thje right thread pitch and profile.

What length are you after?

Until fairly recently most seat belt mounting bolts were 7/16. You could check out safety harness bolts from a motorsport supplier.

I'm unclear what you need it to be an M11 for?

Which bit of the system requires a bolt this size?

I can't think there'd be anything on a GPZ500 with an M11 thread.

You sure it isn't an M8 and a spacer?

No one makes anything with an M11 fitting, surely?

In 2006 only, Royal Enfield made a batch of fuel tanks with an M11 fine stub and a collar to fit a 1/4 BSP fuel tap to it. Quite a weak collar.

They must have been laughing into their chipattis when they came up with that one.

its the front engine mount bolt (normally around 320mm) that sits in a rubber bush either side of the frame..

https://www.rg-racing.com/images/Products/large/img360_1.jpg

i have checked with vernier calipers and im sure its 11mm (making it m11 no?) i could be mistaken and it m12.. fuck knows

I'm sure an m10 would fit fine but i'd be worries about play.. spose an m12 could squeeze in the bush fine but might not through the harder rubber of the crash bung

closest thing i found was an old honda head bolt.. which was m11 (well done honda) however i got rid of them when the engine went and for some reason had one in the box 'o bolts.

also, i'd need bolts around 160mm long iirc.. 7/16 anywhere up to 4" are fairly easy to find but anything longer are proving difficult.

Did you measure the thread or the plain portion?

mines a 92.. the parts page for that doesnt show any info but iirc the frames are the same and the nut for that bolt on the 92 is the same ref number/size.

m10 steels bolts/nuts have been ordered.
