 |
|
For those of you who have more than one bike, obviously. If you were to be given the ultimatum of having to sell all but one, and assuming you can't buy anything else, which would you keep, and why?
My Fazer 1000 is definitely my keeper. It delivers lots of power through the everyday useable speed range, still delivers a good kick at less realistic speeds and can get to those speeds quickly, handles nicely since the suspension upgrades it's had, will tour with luggage comfortably day after day, and is surprisingly manageable in heavy traffic. It's not great for the more challenging roads up here, bit too heavy and gets to silly speeds too easily, although can cope quite happily if reined in a bit.
The Street Triple is more suitable perhaps for where I live now, and I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of pleasure from riding it this summer; it's even very good for everyday use, but it just doesn't have that range of capability that I'd want in a single bike.
I can't wait to hear Kickstart's answer ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Since we have to keep it running indefinitely, are we assuming fantasy eternal parts availability, or some post apocalyptic mutant chow-down scenario where we only have a blunt rock and the last two remaining cable ties the real world?
Well, if it's bikes that we have right now, then the Tractor in the former case and the Enfield in the latter.
If it's bikes that we've ever owned, Tractor and HN125-8. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

GSXR1000 no question. Yes the VFR is more comfortable, has the same power, has shaft drive and hard panniers but I'm not old enough to choose those over fun quite yet. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Well, I've got three at the moment, FZ1-N, SRX600 & XL125.
Bearing in mind that I don't commute, they're all just play things and I wouldn't say any of them are my ideal bike it would be a difficult choice.
Thinking about it, I do enjoy the tinkering side of things, quite a lot, so first to go would be the FZ1, it's too complicated to make tinkering much fun. The roads in my locality are not well suited for it, apart from anything else we get overwhelmed at the weeKends by weekend warriors in all types of vehicles, clogging every road!
Then it would be a toss up between the XL and the SRX.
They're both simple bikes, easy to work on, easy to use and cheap to run, both of them also require more engagement to get the best out of them which, IMO, is a good thing!
A bit of a dilema really but, for the simple reason that it's got a modicum of off-road ability I'd have to keep the XL!
In an ideal world, with only one bike allowed I'd keep hold of an older traillie or a DRZ400E! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

For OP I suggest the Fazer 1000, as the Street triple will sell better and faster and be worth more too.

Oh yes, the Fazer is worth more to me than it would be to anyone else, in a similar way to your KMX I suppose - I've spent over a grand on it to get it how I want it, and it's a pretty old model now too. But it's a damn good bike, even by today's standards.
The whole idea of the Triumph is to enjoy it for a while, then try something else. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

The Trophy of the ones I have now. I'm never ever going to be able to justify spunking £13000 on a new bike again so I'd better keep this one. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
