Hello there bikers.
CBR600F2/CBR600FN
I had a mishap in which at a busy supermarket, I returned to my motorbike, in a bit of a hurry.
turned the engine on to warm her up but neglected to remove the front disc lock.
visor down, quick blip of the throttle, both legs straight up, off we go.....for about 1 metre.
oops, front wheel locked, down i went lol. thankfully my tinted visor saved me from being identified haha.
So here we go,
I broke the RH calliper bracket on my CBR 600F2.
I think the disc is ok, as the bracket broke before any warping of the dics happened.
I need to source a new bracket....but im having trouble finding somewhere that has it.
I would like to order the part myself and fit it to save the labour, and if needs be get it checked by a local mobile mechanic before setting off on it again.
So does anyone know a good place to get old bike parts, or where do you guys get parts if you need 'em.
I checked ebay but its a bit hit or miss there, and I got a quote from a store of £120 for part only...is that reasonable for just a bracket?
Sorry its a long post...if you read this far then thank you and good luck out there.
Regards,
Ultinator
Also would it be easier to just get an entire replacement calliper?
I dont want to complicate anything uneceesarily.
Also what do you think a CBR600FN (1992) is worth ?
It is pretty good condition has 18,000 beans on the clock and starts everytime....

One of these?

If it is, then you now also have the manufacturer part number (45210ML0006 ). If not, have a look at their exploded part diagrams and find the bit you've broken. You can get it from a european parts specialist:
https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbr600f-hurricane-1993-p-england-kph_model2278/bracket-comp_45210ml0006/#.VsxQyMdYXdk
for 92 euros.
Other option is to contact your local bike breakers - they will have plenty of CBR600F2's around as they were v. popular.
If you want to stick online - then set up an eBay follow search for it. ____________________ 2015 Triumph Street Triple - 2015 Honda CB500F - 1976 CB400 Four (Stripped - and undergoing restoration) |

Has a disc lock ever prevented a theft or just exclusively caused damage when not removed?
Maybe get an alarmed one? |

If it's the part Bridgehouse posted a picture of, it is usually supplied as part of the calliper by breakers when you buy used parts.
On the plus side, if your actual calliper is ok, you can buy the cheapest one on ebay with seized pistons because the actual carrier/bracket part usually just needs a clean up even if the rest of it is scrap.
Are the lugs on the fork leg ok? Check them carefully with a good light for any small cracks. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
