Battery looks fine.

Next, bypasss the solenoid with a suitably thick bit of metal between the two big thick wires on it. One will go from the battery and the other to the starter motor.

What happens if you put a screwdriver across the terminals of the starter solenoid?

Do I point out that 'tard better be careful not to ground the piece of metal whilst doing these sort of shinanegans, otherwise he'll learn how to weld a screwdriver to a bike frame?

Not on a par with sproket, but it will be a giggle to hear about it.

I don't know if the solenoid is fucked or not.

hence the diagnostic test.

Try and carry it out without welding the screwdriver to your bike.

Oh god (i), the tension is palpable here.

Will he successfully bypass the soleniod and start (or not start) the bike or will he weld a 3 foot stilson to his bike...

If it's not the solenoid you could try tapping the starter motor to see if it's seized up.

Must be the left one as it was totally dead when I tried with the right one removed. Informative none the less.

The problem is not the 30A main fuse. If the fuse blown, you'd get no electric power to the rest of the motorcycle, as this 30A fuse is the first thing on the plus wire from plus terminal of your battery. Thumbs Up

Bypass the solenoid as you were told. If you want to use an spanner from your toolbox, use one that you don't like much and/or have no sentimental value to, as the bypassing might deform the metal of the tool. If bypassing solves the problem, the relay is dead, sometimes a bit of gentle knocking on the relay casing helps. Even cleaning the contacts properly helps, as when you press the starter button, a lot of Amps flow through those.

EDIT: If you are scared of doing the bypass test (a lot of sparks, a serious electric shock...), just ask a mate to lend you his relay, just for the test. The same relay is on various motorcycles. FZS 600 should have a Relay p.n. 4YR819400200.

EDIT II: Take the relay off and clean every terminal (2) and contacts (the socket+ the white plug) properly (get rid of all the white/green stuff = oxidation, the key is to have only shiny clean metal contacts and terminals, no oxidation allowed) put it back and try it again. It could be as simple as that.

Use WD40 if you don't have anything better. A specialized cleaner would be the best, but I brought back to live electric stuff with the plain WD40 many times before, so it should do the trick for you as well. Clean the battery terminals, no filth there allowed.

EDIT III (the last one, I promise):
1) Clean everything I've just told you about, then try to start the engine.
2) If that won't help, do the bypass test.
3) If you are scared (and the engine runs if pushstarted) ask a mate for a relay.
4) If it was the relay, buy a new relay (part number: 4YR819400200)

So you did nothing at all and the problem didn't fix itself? Thinking

Buy a brand new part.

Did you at least try to do what I was talking about? Clean, bypass...

Take it off, give it a thorough clean up and a few light taps to make sure its not just sticky inside.

Are you sure you don't want to give it a 30 minutes, to clean it? Anyway, yes, it is a generic part (4YR819400200 - the internet says).
