I've got a block paving driveway and need to do some work on my car, requiring the front end off the ground.

My trolley jack hates block paving, any reason I can't put some board under the jacket to allow it to roll as it raises the car?

None that I know of, I have done exactly that numerous times. You are using jack stands as well right? Or are you relying on o rings to not fail and drop a car on you?
Be safe. Thumbs Up

Once the car is jacked up, chock the trolly wheels.

Its going on axle stands to do the work.

When i've jacked the car (or bike for that matter) I've found the jack pulls the car towards it rather than wheeling into the car as it does normally.

This is normally caused by the wheels reaching a joint in the blocks, using wood under the jack would allow the jack to roll into the car.

Always had tarmac or concrete drives before so never had this problem

My driveway is similar and the jack wheels get stuck pulling the car towards you, which is much worse when you've done one side and start to jack up the other and it the car begins to pull the axle stand over Shocked

Get a couple of scaffold board offcuts from the next crew you see lobbing it up somewhere. It's ideal for this task.
