Since it is a Yamaha try pushing the top of the key towards the outside of the lock when you turn it. This often vastly improves the situation.

Could try spraying a load of 3in1 in there. Bit of oil + ptfe seems to work well in locks.

Probably not what you want to hear, but its a Yamaha, every Yammy I've owned, including my current FZ1 has been the same, they all required the key to be wiggled to get it to turn.

My old r6 was a bastard for this, I used to have to properly roll the key in the lock before it would turn..... A good dose of acf50 really helped!

I've got a Suzuki and they are proper loose, you can stick it in at any angle and not touch the sides. I only found this out at the last MOT because I got an advisory on being able to pull out without the engine dying.
Now, I think its a great feature. Each time I forget to remove the disk lock, I leave the old girl warming up while I take the key out to open the rear top box and drop in my disc lock, then ride off with the key in my pocket.
