just thought I'd share a quick pick of the build quality of my msx
This msx is 20 months old (August 2014) and has done 8000 miles.
I decided to repaint the exhaust headers as they look shit. In that time, the nuts which attach the heat shield have managed to rust up entirely so that they sheared as I tried to remove them.
It's a bit shit for something this age.

So how often did it get a clean and polish then?
Can't expect something that gets blasted by all the crap off the road to last long without some TLC.
Did you have a mud flap to help keepp crap off it? ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Those parts are what usually rust first on most bikes so no surprise really. MSX's are made in Thailand so maybe not as good as Jap made? ____________________ I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

The new Africa Twin has attracted quite a bit of criticism on a number of fronts, including spokes and rims apparently suffering from mild corrosion after only a few weeks. Hard to believe, but that's what folks are posting elsewhere
Personally, a lot of stuff that people complain about is down to a simple lack of cleaning but you must wonder what happened to the build quality of old. |

Hopefully it won't all peel off like the last time I painted my exhaust.
Honda only make ghey commuter bikes now, walking round their showrooms there's nothing exciting... nothing |

I put them on my Enfield early doors after snapping a stud on the Burgman. I'd have done the Tractor too, but it appears to have some Godless Eurofasteners on it.
I read that Africa Twin thread a bit further, and it just goes on and on and on with folk reporting that spoke corrosion (or finish damage) after 200 miles, 100 miles, a single dry ride. And "my dealers demo bike which has been used all weathers..4 thou mile on it. the wheels are totally scrap". That's the bike that they're showing to customers!
This cracked me up:
| mike5100 wrote: | I was at my local northern UK dealership on Friday (ordering an NC750 X and the salesman didn't seem to know about this problem. His own bike was the shop's AT demo and I pointed out the corrosion on the rear spokes - there was none on the front - he hadn't realised that this would not clean off. They had also the previous week had an argument with an AT purchaser who had bad corrosion on both wheels but he had ridden through the worst the UK winter can throw at it and (they said) he hadn't cleaned it as recommended. They are a very good dealership, and my bet is they will be re-contacting the customer after I told them about this thread |
There isn't an <animated-eye-roll.gif> big enough for that level of delusion.

Well to be fair they've seen BMW get away with it for years.
How much will sales be affected though? Pack a few journos off to South Africa on an all-expenses paid trip and all will be forgotten right? ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F
