This is only temporary. Looks like they’ve narrowed the lanes while working on that new Park Plaza hotel. The cyclist signs are only there because I think they’ve closed the pavement which would force any cyclists onto the carriageway. Unless they switch to the opposite side of the A40 which would be a major pain for the cyclists. If it was me I’d take to the road for a few minutes of mixing it with the HGVs then hop back on the pavement just before the BP garage.
I think the cycle super highway is mooted to be created using a single lane of the Westway flyover, however with the departure of Boris it will be interesting to see if the project stalls.
The narrow lanes totally screw up motorcycle filtering though. Can’t wait for them to go. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

I wouldn't as they just narrow the lanes more and put a 20mph speed limit, just because
Bet cyclists are allowed to overtake. |

A cyclist would have to be insane to try the A40 at the Hanger Lane underpass. They'd be better off juggling hand grenades with the pins out while being attacked by a pack of wolves. How about a sign saying 'cyclists f@ck off and go somewhere less mad.'
All right, I get that a bunch of middle aged, lycra clad weirdos want to get their rocks off by holding up traffic in London instead of buying a gym membership but FFS, are we now expecting them to achieve kamikazesk levels of suicidal stupidity and cycle down the A fucking 40? Jesus wept. ____________________ FZR400 (blown engine), ZXR750 (blown engine), ZX6R (accident), CBR600 which had engine issues after which I learned to change gear..., CBR900, CBR924 (stolen), CB600, CB1300 (everything blew up), BMW K1300GT (written off, hit from rear while stationary), Bandit 1250 for a couple of months, Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (nicked) and somewhere in there, I wrote off a Ducati 748 at Cadwell. |

On Victoria Embankment last year they had a sign "No overtaking cyclists". That made me chuckle, because all the cyclists do there is undertake at speed. Then one day it disappeared and "Do not overtake cyclists" was put in it's place, so I guess I wasn't the only one to spot the irony in the wording. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
