Hi sounds like the clicking you hear is the relay, and that sounds fine , have you tried cleaning out the starter button switch , could have some corrosion/muck in there Thumbs Up

Surely if the relay is clicking it would mean the switch is fine as it's clicking when the OP hits the switch. I would expect it to be a duff battery connection or similar, but OP says they're fine. Thinking

Had similar problems on my DRZ400E.
I don't know if the wiring is similar, but on mine the main fuse was mounted on the L/H side of the seat subframe. Over the years, taking the seat on and off had rubbed the insulation off on one of the wires.
I renewed the bit of wire and the problem went away!

Easy to check ,get the multimeter onto the starter motor hold down the start button and see if you get 12v at the starter motor, could be starter motor itself

Change/swap your starter relay.

I had a similar problem with my old yamaha 125, I had to hit the starter motor with a block of wood to get it to start. From what I can remember it was the brushes inside the starter motor.

Its pointing toward the starter motor, to make sure its not the side stand/ indicator relay , put down the side stand with the bike in gear ,pull in the clutch and try to start, if there is no click then that relay is working and the bike wont start, as you can see from the diagrams the wiring flows thro that relay to the starter relay, when you get the click it means the starter relay has worked and ready to fire the starter moto

ok i have circled what clicks when i go to start it, thats under the head light i thought it was the flasher relay for the indicators?

the starter relay does not click when i try start it, i can start it by touching the 2 terminals on the starter relay together with a screw driver

how would i go about testing everything i have a multimeter?
