 |
|
...Going to be honest, I need to vent. Perhaps its immature of me but I lost my shit yesterday evening after a massive storm had flooded the roads.
So, I work a late evening shift, and because the flooding was so bad, I decided to leave work two hours early so I wouldnt be caught in the floods in the dark.
Needless to say, On the way home, I approached a huge AF puddle. Must have been about a foot deep and I did what any good motorcyclist would do, I slowed down in plenty of time even tapped my brake a few times gently to have it flash for the guys behind BEFORE i braked. So I wasnt an unexpected hazard.
So I tackle this puddle, slowly, Say at about 10mph, And then some bell end car driver in the next lane, SMASHES into the fucking puddle on my right, and fucking soaks me from head to toe in this Tsunami of rainwater and god knows what else.
I kept my cool, but even now, a day later,
I wish I'dve punched his fucking wing mirror off.
Any of you fellas had a similar situation? |

I've noticed that since riding the YBR I've become even more invisible in the rain. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Hi
No, I've been lucky in that respect on the bike, however, there was one time something similar happened in the car, like you big big puddle, I slowed down. A car was coming the other way, and whoosh straight into the puddle, only of course, the tsunami bounced of my car, and straight in through their open driver's window !!
It has been crap weather for riding round this are though the last few days hasn't it. At least, my waterproofs have held up well, might have to get some waterproof overboots, as, my boots have leaked, not too surprising in this weather I guess. ____________________ Beware what photos you upload, or link to on here, especially if you have family members on them |

I had this happen to me in the car. I was trundling along half on the pavement when this pleb in a range rover smashed though on the other side of the road. they pushed a huge bow wave up and over the top of my car which went into the air intake and flooded the engine!
luckily I had my toolbox in the car and it didn't take long to whip out the plugs to get rid of any water and dry the MAF sensor. Got soaked though |

Rated funny
Saw the same happen to a guy going through The Rodings a few months back. Roads were dry but it'd been raining heavily for a few days beforehand and it's all fields round there, so you get the run off down from the fields across the road in places.
I was making progress but bimbling a bit as I'd done quite a few miles at a fair pace and needed a break. All of a sudden I see in my mirror a biker flying up the outside of the cars I'd gone past previously and arrives onto my rear wheel like an angry wasp.
I'd already been down this road once coming in the other direction and noted the huge puddle which covered the oncoming lane, around the other side of the right hand bend that was upcoming, so I'd got myself in the mindset of coming to a stop on the left if required and waiting for a clear gap in traffic before proceeding.
Of course, Mr Angry Wasp Blade Star didn't know this so he plumps for a couple of big overtakes and comes around the bend at a fairly hefty pace, certainly not at a speed he was going to be able to stop before the puddle; and sure enough he arrives at the puddle just as a big ass truck ploughed straight through it and sent a tidal wave about 8 feet tall all the way over the other side of the road
He stopped up in the layby about 150 yards on looking extremely pissed off as I chuckled to myself all the way home |

Well I thought it was just the sun that brought out the idiots but so does the rain. chucking it down the other day on the way to work and taking it steady a small Vauxhall van decides he is going to overtake the line of cars behind me at blistering speed while a car was coming the opposite way, I started braking as I saw him in my mirror and he pulled in front of me with inches to spare! Dick! On exiting the motorway up the slip road a Kia decides to undertake everyone up to the roundabout at the top and turn right! Still on my commute on a dual carriageway i looked in my mirror before indicating to pull out only to see a dark shape approaching fast in the outer lane, then a Honda accord zipped past without any lights on and all this with rain bouncing a good foot off the road. What has happened to common sense with drivers these days? |

Had something similar before with it pouring down heavy with rain... stuck behind a coach in good distance, he then indicates to go off this slip lane for a left turn so once his in this slip lane I open the throttle to go past and then suddenly notice the ENORMOUS puddle in the in the slip lane on my side. Coach goes thundering through it just as I'm going past and tsunami hit me full on. Couldnt see for a good 5-10 seconds and panic did set in |

Poor obs, I bet he was laughing his tits off
A car infront of me did fail to use a slip road today. He did not give a single shit to look at existing traffic, doing 40mph and tried to merge into the side of a HGV at 60mph. |

There are some people who genuinely believe it is the responsibility of people on the main road to make room for people entering on a slip road. One bloke I used to work with was like that - I only went in a car with him driving once, a trip that included driving at speed down the hard shoulder with him cursing the lorry next to him for not slowing down to let him in, as the lorry driver obviously didn't know how to drive and shouldn't be on the road |
