I need to keep my hands warm so which do you recommend?

Hi

We have the Hot Grips fitted to Charlottes GPZ500. Now wired up with a relay (and thanks to the person who suggested the rear light switch feed as a good trigger wire) so that they turn off with the ignition.

For me one problem is the size. I have fairly small hands so anything that makes the bars much larger means they become uncomfortable quite quickly. Although the Hot Grips are slightly larger than standard it is not by much and certain acceptable.

Oh, and they are very warm.

I can recommend the Honda grips (they were on my bike when I got it). Very warm, work extremely well. Only mine stopped working. Crying or Very sad

Will prob try and get some for next winter as they seem to be better than my friends oxford ones, just hope they last this time.

Another vote for Hot Grips here. They get very warm, very quickly. Easy to fit (turn them on for a bit if you have trouble sliding them on the bar), easy to use and just about as standard looking/feeling as you can get.

LOL, how can you recommend them then........
I have them on my XX and i'm on my 2nd replacement left grip despite being intouch with HONDA about it since 10th December and i still don't have the replacement one in my psession.
Go for the 'Daytona' of 'Oxford hot grips'.. Each replacement Honda grip is £62 inc vat Shocked , thats the price of complete set of Oxfords.

I've got the oxford hot grips but they seam to be more like oxford luck warm grips atm, need to have a look to see whats going on.

I see your point. Perhaps I should clarify my point.

The reason I recommend them is because I use my bike for work, every day of the year. After about 38K miles they gave up. I have accepted that with heavy use things tend to wear out more quickly than someone who rides sundays when its sunny. I had nearly 3 years of reliable, solid use out of them. They were also 2nd hand when I got them.

They also did a much better job of warming my hands than the other sets I have used. They were neither too hot or too cold (thanks to variable switch) and did an excellent job. I am sad they did not last as long as I would have liked (i.e. longer than the bike).

So all in all, I would recommend them as I intend to get another pair. I am more concerned with something that works, than something that lasts.

If anyone knows of something that does both, then I would be very happy.
