There's loads of them about now, and I'm considering one for messaging/browsing/watching films on the train, as well as the odd phone call.

The Doogee X6 pro caught my eye https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-5-DOOGEE-X6-Pro-4G-LTE-Android-5-1-Quad-Core-16GB-2GB-Dual-SIM-Cam-Smartphone-/131370058064?hash=item1e96440150:g:z9gAAOSwIgNXkxR1

but does anyone have any experience of it, or any others?

Thumbs Up

I'd avoid them for that the use case of browsing or watching films unless you are unable to afford anything better. The screens probably aren't brilliant and the processor will end up being sluggish. You'd be better off with an older brand name phone like an S4 or S5.

Dual sim though, so brilliant for your local drug dealer.

Hi yes, I have a Doogee X6 Pro, my partner, and daughter have the X5 pro, and my father the DG310.

Mine works really well, I have no trouble with anything, the only shortcoming is the camera, but, I almost never use a phone camera. It picks up a signal far better than LG did, screen is perfectly good.

I also use my X6 Pro to vpn into work, and it works well with ssh, vnc, remote desktop, and even the vmware horizon client when I'm on call, saves me lugging a laptop around with me. So, in short, unless you want to use it as a camera, it's very useable, and has a perfectly reasonable battery life.

Add to that, the X6 Pro, will receive an OTA upgrade to Android 6 at some point.

Bought this last week. Very good, performs quite well battery isn't bad. Dual sim, one active for data (but like other phones, 3 network is 3G only and if you don't have data enabled on that sim, no phone at all on3). Can swap between sims to make calls and use data. The rest of the phone functions as it should. I was impressed. An american company.

Even has a fingerprint sensor

I bought a doogee x5 pro and its excellent as a basic smartphone. Cost me <£45 delivered from china and I have no complaints about it.

Oh apart from the charging port location which is on the top of the handset, but that is the only complaint.

My family liked it so much that both of my parents immediately bought one too

Just over £75 but I got my boy a 2nd Gen Moto E. Good little phone for the price. Consistently gets decent reviews.

Any news?

Big fan of cheap phones, it bemuses me that so many wander about with half of their life savings in their pocket.

Currently have a 1st gen Moto G but it's showing its' age a bit (RAM issues).

I use a doogee x5 as a sat nav, not really tried much of anything else on it though. Works well as a sat nav mind

Haven't got round to it yet as I found an old iPhone5 in the drawer and have been using that. Once the battery life becomes intolerable, which won't be long, i'll have a look around again! Thumbs Up
