Wait did they put 4000 miles on it or they bought it at 4000 miles?
Shock housing is bad.
Chain... a lot of riders neglect their chains.
Plus the wheel alignment is pretty bad. But if he's done 4000 miles shouldn't the owner have adjusted it? On my chain bikes I tended to adjust them every 500-1000 miles. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Wouldn't you feel the rear wheel being that much out of alignment? |

I've seen Chinese branded bikes better than that.

"Legendary Honda quality"?
Might have been on the piss from the sweatshop (if it's like my bike-in-a-box, it'll have shipped with the rear wheel fitted), might be owner abuse. From the neglected state of the chain, I'd charitably assume the latter.
That looks like a CB125F. Split spokes, red shocks, well legit. It's a cheap Chinese bike rather than a cheap Indian bike. Either way, it's not totally fluxxed by now - that's progress of a sort for Honda. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

When the 125 owner told me that he had bought the bike new from Maidstone Honda he had to ask for a tool kit as this was missing from under the seat for some reason. He said he had the owners handbook at home and so I suggested that maybe there was a list of the tools that should have been in that kit within said book, especially as there was no spanner for the rear wheel spindle nut.As I did not have what looked like a 17mm spanner in my R1 toolset we could not adjust the alignment,so he had to carry on with his journey from Eastbourne to Gillingham with it the way it was.
My initial question after I had the opportunity to ask him to pull over, was whether the bike tipped in to right handers okay but if he struggled around left handers.....and if he had to ride with the handlebars pulling to one side, which is what I would expect with the back wheel being as out of alignment as it was.The lad said that it had always been like this since the day he started to ride it in May,which suggested to me that it had not been PDI'd correctly from Maidstone Honda.
When the lad said that it was due for its 4,000 mile service soon,I did suggest that whatever he might consider spending on that service would be better spent on a workshop manual and a set of tools that would do at least a basic service.
Hopefully he will get it sorted before too soon ____________________ Just talk bikes. What else is there?

Gillingham is literally a stones throw from here. If you know his details, feel free to point him here. I have copious tools and chain lube |
