 |
|
So....I wish for the life of me I had never stepped foot in this shop. I have had the most dreadful week of my life because of metropolis motorcycles . Thats why I am still awake at 0100hours because I can't sleep.
I went into Metropolis at Vauxhall to buy a new Yamaha motorcycle. Test rode it decided all was ok so then I decided that I would buy it...Anyway sales guy stated a deposit of £500 was needed to be left on the bike. Fine I didn't have a problem with that at all...
But that is where all the problems began.....
The salesman has then handed me the chip and pin machine of which he said it was the £500 deposit. I typed my pin number in. Maybe it was the way he was holding the machine but I swore it said £500. Then he handed it to me and I have typed my pin it and then took at double take at the screen and it actually said £5000 not £500. He had put an extra 0 on the deposit amount. So I tell him "that says £5000 mate cancel it" to which he just looked at the machine and it was to late, the transaction has gone through. This has then taken me over my overdraft and incurred me daily charges and fees. Oh as well as wiping my bank account clean out and messing up my credit file.
So they decided the best and only thing that they can do is refund me £4500 back into my account that may take "a couple of days to go back in" this was taken on the 23/09/2016 its now the 01/10/2016 and its still not back in my bank account. The thing that gets me is that this shop think a working man with two kids to feed and a mortgage can afford to just have his bank account cleaned out like this. I was taking the bike on finance so I didn't not have the money to buy the bike outright. I got a massive sense of "oh well its our mistake but never mind" the customer comes second at this shop. Due to previous money problems that I don't really want to go into on here my poor wife starts thinking the worse of me.. Basically the deal has then been cancelled because of the grief they have caused me. I call the shop speak to the same salesman who takes my card details and states he will refund my £500 deposit. This was then done. Then an hour later £500 more comes off my card. I speak to my bank and they told me this has been taken by Metropolis motorcycles as a card payment. I then ring the shop and get told "we didn't do this its a mistake". The bank security team then tell me it was done in that shop 100% and give me the authorisation code. The shop still saying they didn't do this. So my bank account is now £5500 in the RED.
Didn't have a dollar to my name. Had to go cap in hand to my parents and ask to borrow some money. Do you know how degrading that is as a man. A man with kids. (sorry trying not to shed a tear here ) I felt really low. Instantly my parents start asking questions as to why I need money and what's happened thinking I have messed up again. I am someone who has had bad money problems in the past but is long over them now but I felt like I was having flashbacks of the past. All the while my anxiety's away at me, Finding it hard to get to sleep, too stressed. Looking at my bank account really caused me serious anxiety I don't think this shop realise that situations like this can affect people in different ways. Due to my previous situation this was a really big deal to me
The thing that has wound me up the most is the whole laid back attitude to this situation. This shop has given me probably the worst week of my life for a very long time.
They have caused me problems with my wife, parents, kids I am disgraced at this shop. I thought I was over my anxiety didn't think a visit to a motorcycle shop to buy a new bike would trigger all this off again. The look on my wife's face when she asked me why that money was missing from our bank account. I could see in her face the disappointment and hurt. I knew what she was thinking of me. Me having to stand there and swear to her its the bike shop who have made a mistake. I promised her to trust me to believe me. I even let her find the number to the bike shop and put them on loudspeaker so she could here for herself..... This has hurt me man. it cuts deep
Oh they have offered to pay my bank charges if I provided a written letter and proof. Just to drag this out even more. cause me more grief because of there mistake. That don't interest me it isn't worth the extra stress. but I would like them to realise the hurt and pain they have caused me....I have only written this on here so everyone can read about it. Why not? it happened. They know who I am. I told them I would let people know about my experience and the staff member I spoke to seemed encouragingly fine about me writing about it.
I must say one thing though. I bought a new bike from metropolis in Greenwich back in 2007 from a guy called Mark. Top bloke who gave me great service.....I remember good service and he was a good guy...That's the reason I went back there to be honest.
Metropolis.......Where else???? Anywhere else apart from this shop ever again that's for sure.
Potless,stressed and hurt.

So the rep put the wrong amount in the keypad and you didn't check the amount carefully enough. Both at fault there. That's why they say "Check the amount and enter your PIN." I hardly think they were trying to pull a fast one; very few people will not notice 5k missing from their account.
Missing money aside, the repercussions from this sound pretty rough. Must be hard to see the mistrust in your family's eyes, and I've known the embarrassment of having to borrow cash off parents. However, and not trying to sound harsh here, but your history and previous situation aren't Metropolis' fault...
Anyway, a week to sort sounds like an excessive amount of time given the amount involved. Refunds are pretty instantaneous are they not? Have you opened a dialogue with your bank manager? It's possible that they could cancel the transaction or at least waive the fees.
Start badgering Metropolis and ask for specifics re. refund. Print off a bank statement as evidence for them. If you're not getting the answers you want then go higher up the food chain and don't stop until you get some resolution. Chances are that to them, it's an erroneous transaction, whereas to you, it's a life changing situation.
Personally, I wouldn't try to get the car garage involved. It'll only serve to muddy the waters. Keep it simple.
Be open and frank with your wife and family. Everyone makes mistakes and this one is pretty innocent (albeit involving a large sum of money). No-one should be judging you too harshly for this.
Get it sorted out, chill your family out, then go buy your bike and enjoy riding it (and check amounts before committing).
