if mods want to stick it in workshop then fair enough but I need some help

car is a 1999 Peugeot 206 1.1 lx

when I got it all was fine but about july I noticed my 12 volt (lighter) socket had stopped working

thought sod it can live without that

then we went out for a meal and I realised my instrument panel on the dash wasn't lit up so couldn't read speedo all the warning lights work but not the back light
the other day I picked my little in up from brownies and noticed the lights behind the heating controls don't work
and since then noticed my rear number plate lights are out
apparently this all points to a fuse in the inside fuse box

now here is the thing

my manual says its fuse 18 and shows this picture
https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb129/andyscooters/DSC_0106_zpsv9bys6fb.jpg

fuse 18 is second row from top on the left (sorry pic is wrong way round)

only problem is fusebox looks like this

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb129/andyscooters/fusebox%20pic_zpslrbrqrm5.jpg

which is completely different

TL-DR WHICH FUSE IS NUMBER 18

Second row from the bottom of the fuse box.The red fuse with a white fuse to the left and green fuses above and to the right. My second choice would be the white fuse on the very right of the second from bottom row.

multi meter on continuity. Don't even have to remove the fuses to check them. Go through the lot.

Not on this car but seen fuse box & manual miss-alightnments before. You're generally looking for patterns to give you references. In this case to me it looks like:
https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/fuses.jpg

Besides fuse 23 now looks like it's two fuses all the slots are in the correct place with extra fuses for newer items.

if the fuses in that fuse box are intact there used to be a fuse box in the engine compartment on a ex's 206,
have you had a look if a feed fuse hasn't popped in there ?

Looked at that but seems OK also interior light works which wouldn't if that one had gone as its a main fuse for inside compartment

https://www.peugeotlogic.com/fuses/fuses206/fuses5.htm

From this list it does seem it's f18 as the interior light is f22, feed is from sidelights, are they working?

F5 would be the engine bay fuse box.

You have 15A fuse in F7... is it a cabriolet?

Pull F19, the 5A fuse on the left of what we think is F18. Check that the HI rears aren't working.

Nope to cabriolet
I may ride a scooter but I'm not quite that gay

Will have to leave til morning it's dark and I've ran out of new fuses

Why not just go along with a known/tested good fuse trying each fuse one at a time.

Nope to cabriolet

Just from two sources the F7 fuse is 15A for the "Retractable electric roof (cabriolet)"

Why replacing fuses, check them for continuity. If the old fuse comes out and isn't blown then put it back in. If it is blown but still doesn't work then it's not a fuse issue.

I've done that before when a fuse blew. Put a spare one in a blank spot for next time.
