Had to run up to York on Saturday and travelling up the M1 leading to the M18 I was flashed. I didn't notice the camera at the time and after a bit of digging found that it was probably one of those new fangled HADEC cameras.

Not having travelled up that stretch for some years and apparently living under a rock, not come across these before.

This is a managed motorway, though as it was about 7.30am on a Saturday, not much traffic and no temporary speed restrictions in place.

It's possible that my plate was obscured by another vehicle I was passing (wishful thinking?). I'm a bit worried as my licence probably won't take another hit (my speedo had failed a few days before so I've not got an exact speed, but a fair bit over the NSL Crying or Very sad ).

Any one got any experience with these things in the North Derbyshire area? Should I expect a letter?

The managed motorway cameras are active all of the time. When no speed limit is showing it's 70 plus the normal leeway.

Hey raesewell, that's what I was afraid of! Guess I'll have to wait and see Sad

The magnetic sender for the Triumph was ordered on Thursday. I'm not too bad at judging speeds and have a more or less idea of rpm to speed in 6th and a more or less idea what speed I was doing. The lack of speedo had nothing to do with me getting flashed, just me not being aware of these new cameras.

I used to make a living travelling all around the UK (25,000 miles a year, all on the bike), hence accumulating 6 point on my licence. For the last couple of years I've not made any big trips due to working closer to home and other commitments.

The trip was last minute and not planned, I was quite happy tanking along and should probably know better!! Fingers crossed aye!

I see those cameras flash quite regularly - I've yet to see a car or lorry close to the flash that appeared to be going sufficiently fast to set them off though. If that makes sense!!
