 |

What're some affordable cars where comfort is a major feature? Thinking used here - let's say ideally a couple grand, so yeah, cheap ass. Also, and this is a bit more difficult, ideally not gas guzzling mofos.
I'm talking about cars that have roomy, soft seats - and smooth, quiet motors. It's easy to drive them and get that riding-on-air vibe. WOULD PREFER MANUAL, NB.
I have no experience of these sorts of motors at all - apart from the mother in law used to have a volvo, w/ yr heated seats, automatic box and that "big car" feel. It was pretty sweet tbh. She got it for £300 (albeit w/ mega miles - but it showed no sign of giving up, and body work was still really sound).
Maybe some sort of lexus? I don't want gadgets as such, though. I don't use 'em, and it's just more shit to go wrong. So simple is best imo. I'm therefore thinking probably euro rather than jap? ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent."

They're not spacious in the back, but otherwise yes, they feel like they're hewn from solid. "Wafting" springs to mind, and who doesn't like black-on-cream dials. The only thing is, you have to refer to the wheel as the "helm".
Knocking on a bit now though, you'll be lucky to still find a good 'un. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Comfortable, yet cheap? Something French, perhaps. Anything the PSA and Renault make is comfy and soft. Too soft, if you asked me. Old cars, new cars, they are all the same, a couch on wheels. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Late model Mazda 323F?
Only issues are even though it's a hatchback it feels a lot like an estate car. Plenty of space and decent running costs. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. For cheap, relatively frugal, drives itself comfort, my first thought was a W210 E class Merc, preferably a 320 turbo diesel - you won't find a manual though, but that's no problem as the auto box is fairly bomb proof.
If you think a big old Volvo fits the bill, manual 740/940s aren't uncommon, but they aren't what I would describe as economical. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

The 300 in station wagon mode, and with the proper tyres rather than the skinny fuckers is actually my favouritest car in the whole wide world ever. But there's no way I could ever let myself actually own one. Just too crazy. Too look at me - me and my fucking wallet bayatch!!! But wow - yeah. What a fucking motor. If I ever did get one I'd live in the fucker. ____________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease and the mortality rate is one hundred percent."

For the ride comfort, any Citroen with the pneumatic suspension.
Otherwise, my E39 BMW 530 is going to be up for sale as soon as the DVLA sort the registration on my new car. Not fuel efficient at all, but you'd have about £1250 change from 2 grand to buy extra petrol ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>
