basically, im in the process of taking apart my CBR, the frame mounting bolts have these annoying castilated nuts, haynes manual says you either need to make a tool yourself, or talk to honda, so i went to llyod cooper the local honda place, and got blank looks again Rolling Eyes

attached is the drawing of what i would call a peg-socket, but went around all the tool shops in town today and recieved blank looks

i know they exist, cos the seaking tool box has one in, not as big as 22mm though

https://www.bikechatforums.com/files/crudeness.jpg

excuse the crapness, but that should indicate the jist of it

its like a socket, but has 4 prongs extending from the top of it, kinda like a castle battlements or something

if anyone has one, or has seen where to get them, would be appreciated Thumbs Up

Its a tool for a castle nut. Not sure exactly what its called but I have one.
If it's the same tool that is used for NC30 clutches then give me a shout and you can borrow mine. (PS its double sided, one side for the clutch the other for the swingarm pivot, I think).

Its the same tool you can buy from honda or make yourself, only ever seen it being used to looseten the clutch (cg125/cx500/xl600) probably just a standard honda part...

If you get some pipe the right diameter and a dremel or even a hack-saw and just make one... you can use a hammer and a flatblade screwdriver on any notch carefully, but only if your really desperate imo hammers, screwdrivers and delicate engine innards should never meet!

I'm supprised a honda dealership didn't know what you meant! afaik its use for most if not all older hondas for the clutch... Question

What's going on with the CBR mate?

Yer you can make one of those up: socket + angle grind/Dremel.

I made up something like that for the plugs. Course it would be much easier to borrow the proper tool for your frame. Wink

Hi

Hideously expensive, but available from Demon Tweeks. £35~£40 though!

All the best

I believe it is called a 'castellated socket'.

In the TT600 workshop manual it simply calls it a "Engine mount adjuster socket". Hookay! Laughing

Or Honda part number: 07716-0020100

You can tell the honda dealers next time you are in. Try getting a price on a proper Honda one, bound to be good for a laugh!

Confused I don't know if this would work but have you tried a flat head screw driver? As long as it's as wide or wider than the diameter of the castellated nut it should catch and turn it for you.
Worth a try, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the tool.

wouldnt work, as the centre of the nut is raised if you see what i mean, hence why you need the special tool
