The scrambler looks fun, although I'd imagine that doing the clearances on the rear cylinder would be something of a challenge.

The Monster looks cool and, in a quirky sort of way, so does the Scrambler!
Are Ducati claiming any sort of off road worthiness for the Scrambler, or is it all just hipster bling, to cash in on beardiness?

That's for non bike stuff. Probably should be in biking news.

Ducati Superleggera 216bhp 157kg. Interesting. Until I saw the likely price. Nevermind.

I'd say they're moving in the right direction..as in a bike that's fit for purpose. Although at 803cc it isn't going to be light enough even without the plumbing...but it does have nearly 8" of travel front and back and a 19" front 17" rear.

yeah..it's still a bit Hipster but reckon it'd love firetracks more than mud.

Chuck a load of cash at NCR and they'll make you a 116hp aircooled 1000cc Ducati twin that weighs 125kg.

https://www.ncrfactory.com/eng/html/18.00.shtml

I doubt this'll be that light however.

I was hoping the 950 Multistrada would be a little lower than the 1200, I don't think it'll make enough of a difference. Love them but the 1200 is just out of my reach height wise. Shame about the double sided swing arm and the fact it weighs almost as much as the 1200 too. Still I'll be having a good look if they have one at the NEC show.

That's a lot less than Honda's vision of the same bike though - especially now 188,000 euros is about 188,000 quid; it's a shame because before the exchange rate became so grizzly I was going to buy one Laughing

Wrong as it may be, I do really like this new breed of stylistic hipster bikes. I'll have a scrambler, or equivalent, one day - but only alongside something more in keeping with normality.

There are plenty of people that will make you a similar-enough bike for a good bit less money.
Or pick up a last-year's BSB bike and stick a few road bits back on.
Even if you need a couple of decent engine refreshes, you should still be making a considerable saving.

Of course, you won't have the prestige of what badge these come with.

Trust me want the one that is least achievable. Bit like your agusta, gorgeous bike but a bit too cramped. Most probably the same with the 1098. Though I haven't tried that one yet.

Ducati also announced a "Desert Sled" edition of the scrambler - which is designed to be used offroad with better suspension and a more off-road tire on it.

*Edit: The image from Howling Terror for the scrambler above is of the Desert Sled..

It does have 2 cans. The promo video is quite sexy in a skilled rider kind of way.

the desert sled will replace the urban enduro, which is an accessory bike whereas the desert sled is properly off road capable, they've strengthened the frame and the swingarm pivot, they say this is what they really wanted to build but couldn't at the time
