I've just replaced the cylinder head gasket on my son's speedfight 50cc with a 70cc kit on it. I started it up and ran it for a few minutes then took it out for a run. Got back turned it off and my son went to go out on it half an hour later started no problem got to the end of the drive way and it cut out and won't start. It's got plenty of fuel a good spark. Fuel is getting to the piston as the plug was wet after trying to start it up. Could this be a compression problem.?

Could be anything. Did it run as a 50cc? How well did it run as a 70? what changes did you make to the carburation and exhaust?
I have seen 49cc engines struggle with blocked exhausts before, and unwititng owners trying to address their woes with exhaust mods.

edit. I am an idiot!

Bought it as a 50cc with the 70cc kit already on it. Was running fine until the exhaust came loose so I had to take the head off to get the bolt holes helicoiled, put it back together with new gasket set and the rest is what you seen above.

Well I stripped it down tonight and the problem was very obvious, cracked piston ring.
