The difference is probably of similar scale to the difference between sports and sports tourers, they both are similar overall but have certain aspects unique to them.

Although sometimes you cant really class a bike one way or another.

Cruisers tend to be the 'stock' bikes such as the Yamaha Virago/Dragstar, Suzuki Intruder etc. A forward footed riding position, higher than normal bars (ie no leaning forward) allowing you to sit back in the saddle.

Main difference between this and choppers is choppers tend to be alot rarer, often custom made or adapted from other bikes. The bars are often in more extreme positions as are all the aspects of the bike. Take the open shaft under the peg for example, not something you'd find on your average yamaha.

There not hugely dis similar, on the same spectrum just choppers a bit more extreme.

Thats what i think anyways.

Greetings Smile

Since the 350 Enfield is a basic 1950's design bike, there are plenty of mods you can do to improve the experience from putting more modern tyres on, through carb and exhaust upgrades, to higher spec heads/barrels/pistons, 5 speed gearbox and disc front brake.

Have a look at https://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/ at the accessories section, then if you have any more queries, ask around on their forum.

What sort of 'mods' would you be wanting to do?
Cosemetic, peformance, comfort?

Choppers are usually modified cruisers, though quite a lot are built from scratch these days I suspect (at least the fanct Mercan ones.)
I believe they usually take the rear suspension out, and usually change the rake so that you've got really long forks (thus they 'chop' the frame up.)

I would classify a chopper as a sub set of cruisers; a customised cruiser.

hey guys thanx a lot... so i guess.... a chopper is just a syle statement... not something you wanna ride around for a long time.... dont think it would be very comfy without the rear suspension..... or long forks....

So, do you have an Enfield, thinking about getting one, or just interested?

I have a 500CC enfield. I love it. I borrow my mates suzuki now and then to get the speed out of my system, then sit very happy at 60mph for ages on my enfield going to rallies etc. Hitchcocks are your best bet for mods and parts. Only real problem I have is motorway driving, where 70mph is only reachablefor very short periods of time to protect engine parts, 60mph is a happy cruising speed though.

The best experience though is sitting in 4th gear at just over 30mph and being able to count the power strokes as you thud along Very Happy

edit: just seen above post, sorry for repeating Embarassed
