That's a really nice job. It's a curious choice to restore, but allah loves wondrous variety. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Could be a Marmite thing, but I really like the aesthetics on the RF600R. OK, the vents are in-your-face, but they work for me. The headlight looks of its period, but that's simply because it doesn't look post modern weird for the sake of weird.
That contiguous curve on the tank and frame is lush, and the orange is very now. I'm a fan. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

When I first got it I didn't like the styling but it's really grew on me and now I can't fault it, i agree it is a marmite thing, I borght a orange helmet before it was resprayed, and decided to respray the bike to match the helmet so now it's easily seen, bright and loud which in my eyes is safer riding ____________________ Current: 1994 Suzuki rf600r

It looked kind of weird, dated, testarossa back then, but it's cooler now and it's one of the rarest 600's. There's probably more mk1 GSXF's around than these, and they are hardly common now. But I do like a GSXF more looks wise, especially with a Pepsi or lucky strike paint job, I think they are better looking/more conventional than a GPX or early jellymould CBR, if not as capable.
OP has done a nice job on his bike and it looks like a good result to me.
While the RF's spaceship looks and arse are not minimalist or slinky, I don't think the RF is much more ugly than later bikes like the ZX12R or to a lesser extent things like the Thunderace.
The 900's are a bit of a cult bike now, but still cheap when you see them for sale. I know a bloke that had one years ago, then had an R1, then a Honda SP2, and got rid of it to buy another RF9? |
