Well, in similar circumstances I ended up taking a brief break from bikes.
This may not be helpful to you, as the break ended up 30 years long in my case ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

I've got 3 kids and another due in January. I still find time to ride somehow lol. I guess it helps having a very supportive partner who doesn't mind letting me have a few hours free, in return I make sure she has a few hours to do whatever she wants to do. It's all about getting a good understanding going and not being all about yourself. With my kids being young, they have an early bedtime so if I wanted I have a good chunk of the evening to ride too. ____________________ I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

Nice post idea.
I don't generally do more than a few hundred miles a year on bikes, and that's even with no kids, just routine diy around the house, and no real commitments. Then again most of my bikes are rarely running all year round or in bits.
Between mountain biking, and the other vehicle projects I've got going on, and workshop fettling, I don't with a just a 40hour working week find more than one opportunity a week on average to use a bike. I've done 32miles since having my bike dyno'd in June!
Im considering getting a small scooter and or commuter bike next year, that will only ever be cleaned and maintained, not hacked apart in the name of mad improvements, projects or tuning. That I'm hoping might allow me to get more miles in next year, as I do miss having a work/hack bike to get around, and one I can chain up and walk away from in town etc. |

Getting a puppy in a few days all going well. I suspect this coming year I will have the same issue. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

When she's fully grown she won't fit in one of those, not a chance. Perhaps a sidecar? ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I think this is the problem. London just isn't fun to drive around. It isn't fun to navigate at all, really. It's too busy and noone has any ounce of consideration.
I commute to work which isn't particularly far at the moment. I vary the places which I go to at lunch. And on weekends, I'll use the bike to go to places where I know I can carry stuff home. I don't need to drag the wife and kids with me to B&Q to pick up some Polyfilla. And I cherish the peace and quiet when I leave them at home! ____________________ 2008 Aprilia Sportcity 250 |

Wife / 3 kids / puppy
Commute daily on it and yes its not great fun taking the direct route for me (M6 for 95% of it). But if im not in a rush, adding 30 minutes on takes me up A roads out in the country..
I do use weekends and evenings to nip to get smaller things (Beer / Milk / etc etc) from the furthest away store possible
If you did decide to get rid of it - You would be fine..... Up until the first really nice day where you actually have a couple of hours to kill with no kids around etc. Then you would be gutted.
I plan on taking kids to and from places in the evenings as well as soon as they are old enough (guides / scouts etc). |

I have 2 kids and 2 bikes and I'm single.
I have 1 weekend a month to myself which usually rains.
I have a company car so no commuting needs.
I do not usuallt go out intentionally if it's under 12 degrees.
I do not usually go out when it is dark.
1 bike is sat un taxed and moted since September, the other has done 30 miles since its mot in October.
I did however manage 3k miles on the gsxr alone and 1000 of that was a long weekend away. ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

It is a sod. Most of my riding is commuting now, which takes some of the shine off of evening and weekend pleasure jaunts.
Having multiple bikes helps to keep the daily grind fresh, although I have to concede that three... oh allah... may be too many. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

We have three bikes, and one puppy.
Puppy hilarious, rescue dog, runs towards fireworks. Doesn't bark at the doorbell, or let us know when people are knocking on the door or the window, ignores my Honda, goes mental when I start the 2 stroke.
I can honestly say that I don't think that I have made a single essential journey on a bike for years, rode to see someone who was terminally ill once, that was about 5 years ago. I ride bikes because I like riding bikes.
Yeah, I make trips on my bikes, visiting friends in the evening etc, but if I added up those trips and converted them into taxi fares, I'd probably be saving money.
I make the time, I get an urge to ride, I have to ride, it drives me nuts if I don't. Longest I've not ridden in the last 11 years is 2 weeks, and that was when I came home from NZ via Australia and Singapore. |

I got a bike to avoid paying a stupid amount to park in Uxbridge for work.
brought it with me when I moved north of Manchester and then replaced it with the ZZR,
I commute daily on it, take a little country lane route on a morning to get to the motorway which I found due to avoiding roadworks on the motorway, sometimes I take the longer way home, wife is fine with this from time to time provided I get home to put our daughter to bed at least twice a week, preferably more but no earache if I don't due to work / traffic.
weekends are usually reserved for family time, but often can get a morning / afternoon. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.
