Hello,
I've spent too long aiming to build muscle that I'm now carrying too much fat and I'm basically a fat blob.
I've started changing my diet and workouts to pretty much all cardio, so I'm looking at what else I can do to squeeze a little extra for my efforts and to speed up the process.
I've read mixed reviews about fat burners, some which say the caffeinated ones work well whilst others say they can be very dangerous and are to be avoided.
Considering I drink a lot of tea during the day I'm wary about the extra caffeine.

Look for any help or pointers, information, recommendations, experiences etc.

Thanks,
Grant

I don't think they work. I tried Raspberry ketones for a while and they *might* have done something, but the difference was negligible.

Going to all cardio will basically undo all your hard work in building muscle. You can actually burn fat doing weights etc.

My wife got rid of fat by doing a low carb diet. Takes a few weeks to start working properly, but was very effective. It involves eating a lot of meat and fat.

CICO - Calories in, Calories out; of course.

Take plenty of caffeine and you will actually burn a bit more from NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis - basically fidgeting). Possible it will just 'burn' a few more, keeping you slightly warmer in a few situations.

Apart from that, the energy has to go somewhere.

Another benefit is that many stimulants reduce appetite, to make it easier to stick to a calorie deficit.
If you're not struggling sticking to an appropriate calorie deficit, they're not going to do much.

Remember that when losing weight your body will often turn to muscle rather than fat, especially if you're going for a fairly high calorie deficit.
Making sure you have plenty of protein (typically more than when bulking) and keep doing resistance exercises to remind your body it still needs that muscle.

With various less-legal products there may be more options as far as keeping muscle and losing fat goes, but I haven't researched them and would expect they come with added dangers.

What's your daily calorie deficit? Is the same everyday? Do you have trouble sticking to that? How do you monitor your weight? How do you monitor your calories in/out?

Short answer: probably not, and even ones that do, the overall effect is very small percentages, the likes of which only pro-bodybuilders will be concerned with, and they're juicing up on all sorts of stegs in addition to any fat burners.

From my many years in the ghetto, I can say hand on heart that the "Crack Diet" works wonders as well.

Same for everyone Wink.
Removing what's typically the major source of calories generally creates a calorie deficit, even eating more fat and protein.

Some people do find there's benefits to this as far as sticking to a calorie deficit - be it that they typically keep you 'fuller for longer' or that a complete ban makes it easier to avoid tempation.

Clenbuterol, Albuterol, Trebolone.

Legal? No, there are no legal fat burners that work.

Also no, I would not condone using those substances to lose fat any more than I would recommend Ghosties Crack diet Laughing

Lift weights, everyday - high frequency and do low pace cardio, about 30 mins every day with heart rate around 130-140bpm and follow through for as long as it takes, keeping calories at maintenance (the cardio will keep you in deficit) - use my fitness pal to track everything (right down to the condiments) this is as practically as accurate as you will get without resorting to lab testing your meals. The longer you do this the slower it will happen, such is life things get harder, the main thing is consistency.

If you will use caffeine get it in tablet form and bulk at least you know thats all thats in there and no sugar (caffeine does have a minimal effect on long term fat loss). Or you can use coffee, green tea, guarana etc etc

Which sounds easier than it is. It's easy to gain weight but it takes a long time to shift it.
For calories in, MyFitnessPal is pretty sophisticated. You can always find either the exact food you're eating or a close enough approximation. Also has a barcode scanner for extra laziness.
Calories out, I just got myself a FitBit. All models count steps and compare this to your height/weight for a calorie count and more advanced models have an altitude sensor and heart rate sensor to factor in floors climbed and all non-walking exercises. Don't know how accurate this is though, as it's telling me that I've burnt 2100 calories today.

For some who'd probably get annoyed if I called them 'lucky', they find the opposite.

I certainly like food too much for that and do have to work at 'being good'.

I don't know what bulk calories OP was doing - hopefully he does know.
It definitely shouldn't be over 1000 calories a day. So should be able to lose weight at a similar rate and be within 'guidelines' at least.

I used a product called Diamond Labs ECA Stack about 5 years ago. It worked, in combination with reasonable diet and exercise I lost about two stone in two months.

But it soon slowed up, and the product got banned anyway.

I've now reverted to myfitnesspal and running, which is sustainable and while it takes much longer (3 stone in two years) the weight is staying off.

Calories in, calories out. If you're gaining fat, you're either eating too much or not moving enough.

Or it's your thyroid Rolling Eyes

Edit: they made me sweat like fuck and I was constantly parched. Mouth like a fucking desert, no matter how much I drank. Wasn't nice.

Short of surgical intervention (or a chronic coke habit), there are no short cuts.

Eat less, be more selective with your food, and keep up with the exercise. Even with the remarkably shit year I've had with regards to exercise, I've still lost some weight by modifying my diet a bit. If I go full puritan on my eating, I'll probably drop a ton of weight by this time next year.

I should note that I've been losing a bit of weight just fine and now stopped doing any exercise.

I prefer to exercise - eat more, get fitter, but unfortunately dodgy shoulders that have been an issue for getting on for three years in one way or another keep getting iritated even by pretty basic stuff like sleeping, running and cycling I think. (Typically the pain comes in a couple of days later so it's quite hard to diagnose.)

Got banned becase the effective ingredient ephedrine was made illegal- there is a saying, nothing legal works - if it does it will soon be illegal.

Well, that's only because its a pre-cursor for crystal meth synthesis, I doubt they give a fuck much if people are using it to shed a few pounds.

Doctor was giving me a beating over my weight (110kgs) especially as at the start of last year I was sub 100kg.
i discussed how i was in training back then for competitive sport and it was far easier to find the motivation blah blah and so forth.

I asked him if there were any tabs to get me thin and he said a new drug was released last year. its primary use is for diabetics and it basically makes you pee sugar.

Side effects are weight loss and some risk of thrush/urinary track infection due to highly elevated sugar in your pee.

i'm back in to have a blood test in a few weeks and he wants to discuss it in more detail.

Load of bollocks and he knows it.

All these fat burners all come with a clause... "you must be working on, taking as part of a healthy lifestyle, etc".

I could tell you to eat fucking smarties if you were working out all the time and eating clean and you would see results, is that because of the smarties?

I was involved in supplements for a while, it's all a load of bollocks, the weight loss side I mean. Sure you can take Vitamin C tablets and they will give you exactly what you need but there's no super fat burning pills that just work out the box, you need to be working out and eating clean and if you're doing that... you don't fucking need fat burning pills because they're a placebo.
