 |
|
So, after doing a quote online the other week, I was pretty impressed with £480 FC on my new bike, lowest it has been for years.
Then I get told by a local dealer on Facebook to try their new insurance company on the phone, which I did and they were asking questions like,
Have you ridden powerful bikes before? <
What did you pay for your last bikes insurance? ( Why? You gotta beat £480 not my previous policy )
Have you EVER been convicted of a crime? ( Had to explain a drugs conviction fomr 17 YEARS ago ).
Then they ring me back and say, "Need more info on conviction, did you go to prison?" - I mean WTF? I've never been asked that shit by any insurer. In the end, I told them to fuck off and stop wasting my time.
Now I wanna ring back the £480 quote and do that.
I do a quick re-comparison (Bike Insurer) 6 days later and it has gone up to £580. Balls. So I ring up and quote the £480 number and all is well, some Polish chick who can't really understand English that great runs through it all.
Total price? With 1 year less NCB than I stated on line... £414. Happy fucking days.
Proceeds to ask me my DEBIT card number, then panics and tells me she's made a mistake setting up the DIRECT DEBIT on my account and can I hold? I say wooooowwww, so if you made a mistake setting up a DIRECT DEBIT to my bank account, how did you do that when you just took my DEBIT card info?
She says oh it's fine, let me put you on hold...... puts on hold for 5 mins.... comes back, "Everything is fine now can I have your bank account and sort number?" - I say, hang on a minute, something isn't right here what are you talking about? You're not making sense (she was dodging around what I was asking). She said she will double check with her manager... disappears for a minute and says yeah it's all good.
I said I wanna talk to your manager, something isn't right. She puts me on hold again...
Whilst I'm on hold, I check my bank balance... the full amount has come out. I NEVER pay insurance companies in full, bunch of robbing cunts, why would I do that? (Plus I change my bikes a lot).
She comes back and tells me everything is fine, sticks with her story of messing up direct debit.
I ask her again if she took the £62 payment, she says yes. She then takes my bank / sort, tells me I'm all done and the £62 has gone through and monthly £37 payments setup.
I then tell her that I see £414 missing, want to speak to manager.
Manager comes on and she tells me what actually happened was this woman fucked up (as I suspected), then rang her (manager) and manager refunded the difference from the £62 payment and said happy days. Only her woman hadn't told her manager (so the manager says) what had happened so the manager was un-aware of the whole situation.
So what do I do? Make formal complaints (they basically fucking lied to me 4 times that everything was cool and only £62 went out my account, even after I challenged her she coulnd't have messed up the direct debit as she hadn't taken my bank/sort code details at this point) |

So has the manager now sorted out the problem or not?
If they have If they haven't, well, then you get to moan profusely, get absolutely nowhere and probably end up a lot worse off than paying it and getting the insurance at £414.
I just feel with insurance companies you can never win. I'm sure they tell each other, 'he was a right c**t, make sure he pays through the nose. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

I don't do complaints, but this has fucked me right off.
Had she said, "Look, I fucked up here and this is what happened", I wouldn't be half as fucked off.
What do you think would happen if I did put a formal complaint in arry? In the end, nothing?
Am I just being a nob here? |

I was wondering as years ago it was common for insurance companies not to give a quote if it was an absurd number (like 100k on a Punto ). eBike also stopped giving me any quotes at one point. |

If it's a simple mistake and there is no malice behind it, and it hasn't inconvenienced you unduly or financially impeded you then just move on.
If you've lost money as a direct result then complain and ask to be compensated.
Oh and always pay in full but be VERY wary of terms of business and cancellation fees. |

A thousand times that.
It'll cost you more to cancel half way through than if you'd paid up front, thanks to the interest. I get the pragmatic difference that the money begins in your pocket and they have to come after it, and also, fuck 'em. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
