Thanks, it has been quite rewarding seeing the transformation. I will be taking far more photos of the assembly. It's nice to have something to look back on ____________________ This restoration is ruining my bank balance! Restoration project - 1991 Aprilia AF1 Replica

I'm officially hooked by this thread - I'm loving the attention to detail and can already see that this is going to be a cracking bike when it's finished
I look forward to the next instalment!! ____________________ Currently riding: GSX650

Cheers
Picked up a few more bits today, just waiting on a couple of things to arrive this week and I'll be able to start to rebuild the engine. Should have some more photos soon. ____________________ This restoration is ruining my bank balance! Restoration project - 1991 Aprilia AF1 Replica

Thanks
Sorry, nothing more done at the minute. Had to spend some time trying to sort relationship troubles, now I'm single again, I should be able to get cracking again in a couple of weeks. Just in the process of getting all my stuff back into my house! ____________________ This restoration is ruining my bank balance! Restoration project - 1991 Aprilia AF1 Replica

So......4 months on and single life is difficult, but I'm slowly getting there. Starting to look at getting hold of the last few parts I need, hoping to start to get back onto the project soon.
Found some mirror brackets so I can get the original mirrors on, they weren't cheap but when you've spent too much already!

Going to try and get the carb parts ordered this week, so hopefully there will start to be more updates again soon. ____________________ This restoration is ruining my bank balance! Restoration project - 1991 Aprilia AF1 Replica

The saga continues....12 months on and a full house refit to bring it up to standard (still a work in progress but got through the major stuff) I finally got round to getting a skip and clearing my yard. A new shed on order - will need some work to make it fully secure - and I'll have a place for the bike to live, need to get it out from under the kids beds!!
A few false starts on this but life is good and it's time to re-aquaint myself with the project....it was never forgotten, just packed away until the time was right. Should be back on this within the next month ____________________ This restoration is ruining my bank balance! Restoration project - 1991 Aprilia AF1 Replica

impressive, I really should take more pictures and label things more carefully.
When I get stuck into the RS50 engine I am certainly going to take a leaf out of your book. Although luckily I have a Haynes manual to fall back on, just in case. |

Hi
Looks like your power valve housing is on upside down. No major issue (you will need to remove it to hook the cable on properly anyway).
As an aside, your flywheel in the piccy looks like it has 2 holes in it. Presume one has a small V pointer. If so that is a flywheel for an earlier 127 engine with the fixed (ie, no advance / retard) ignition. Believe the number of teeth on the starter gear is different, and they get chewed up when used on a 123.
All the best
