Serious Power Loss fuelling?

TL:DR = bike (Bandit 600 K1) wont run without choke on full, no power after 3k
piece of shite - any ideas what to check / where to start?

Hi all,

On way to work bike starting losing power at anything over 3k, Choke on power comes back.

Got to hill, bike lost all power and drag my sorry ass halfway up at 20mph, at which point I gave up and pulled over.

Turned it around and managed to get it back home downhill, running choke on full, at one point revs climbed to 5k with no throttle and just choke, choke off engine died.

No knocking that I could hear.

Nicked the missue's car to go to work in, hopefully she gets my text / realises with my bike in its place before she reports it stolen..

So it's being playing up for a week, getting a bit worse, was planning to check the ignition, air filter and fuel filters this weekend before I go any deeper.

Anything I should check first (b4 new bike deals..)?

Could be an air leak making it run a bit lean - check for splits in the rubber conduits between the airbox and the carb.

Ok stripped it all down, when I got to the air box, looked at the plugs all just running a bit lean asexpected really.

I put my hand over the intake, this allowed me to choke off and it run sweet, sucked up against my hand when I oppened the throttle.

So lossened the four clips and dropped the air box back so I could get the box out for a look and spray carb cleaner down the throats.

How the f#@k do I get the air box out of the frame? With engine in situ?

More to the point how do I get the thing bk on again? With engine in situ?

So new air filter on order and a rebuild in a couple of days.

Any ideas on getting this air box in our would be awesome!

Take the carbs out first I suspect (if like the early Bandit)

No need for a gasket set to remove / replace the carbs. And generally no need to strip the carbs either.
