 |
|
Took my test again today and made a complete bulls up , was told to turn left and carried straight on end up having to do another U-turn , and a couple of other occasions he had two repeat himself as I seem to have been in a daze, I think five hours training beforehand was probably a bit much, had a rear wheel skid when turning right (only minor), and pulled out in front of a car although it was on a bend so I couldn't really see it until it was too late !
Bollocks I thought another £110 and a fortnight to wait!
Then to my surprise he said, "I'm pleased to tell you you have passed", I couldn't believe my ears, the first time I took it I think I should have passed, on this occasion I was surprised ! He said he took in consideration my previous test riding and that I only failed for indicating too late! Hooray buy that man a pint !
Right I'm getting pissed to celebrate, was planning to get pissed either way pass or fail (any excuse will do) ____________________ Yeah I know !

You pulled out in front of a car?

Romperstomper1 you ever heard of a joke? Everyone takes the piss out of each others bikes. There is no need to rate mine and Dodsi's post as abusive! I think if you look under the ratings guidelines about the definition of abusive it will not say anything about giving it to people who do not like your bike! Pratt..............

'This post is Abusive:
Use this reason when a poster uses extremely bad / racist language in an attack on another user, or gets way too personal in an argument.'
That was just for the benefit of RomperStomper1, who has given every one of mine and Dodsi's posts on this topic an abusive rating. Go on, do it again.......... It makes me feel all warm and loved........ ____________________ I can see paradise by the dashboard lights....................or at least the speedo on my NSR! |

Romper Stomper (you've now got out of Alamosa Juvenile Hall then? ), you can't expect everyone to like your ped/bike/two wheeled thing, it'd be boring if everyone had the same taste.
Well done on passing your test. |

What's the point of doing the test if it's not on a geared bike? Honestly, I cannot see the point. Are you never going to ride a geared bike? Seems like a waste of time and money to me. Congrats on the pass anyway |

On the "National Association for Bikers with a Disability" website page about bike adaptations it says:
| NADB site wrote: | Left arm (amputation, Brachial Plexus Lesion, reduced strength/ mobility):
In most cases this is simply a matter of adapting the clutch operating lever and some minor modification to the left side switch-gear.
There are several ways to adapt the clutch lever depending on the severity of the riders’ disability. In the case of total loss of or loss of use of the left hand, the clutch lever must be re-sited elsewhere. Most commonly this is a matter of transferring the lever to the right handle bar either in tandem with the brake lever or by replacing the brake lever with the clutch lever and putting the brake on a thumb lever. This lever would have to be made by an engineer, as we do not have this as a kit yet.
Another option is a foot operated clutch although this tends to be less common and would probably require ‘forward’ controls, but can be used in conjunction with a Kliktronic push button gear changer.
A further option is to opt for one of the ‘automatic’ machines such as the Honda 400cc and 750cc auto models.
In the case of reduced mobility or strength in the left hand other options would be, an Easy Clutch kit or Hydraulic to cable kit, which makes the use of cable operated clutches much lighter, or a thumb operated clutch lever.
1. Right-hand thumb brake, using front brake lever as clutch
2. Right-hand twin levers
3. Left foot clutch with a push button gear changer on handlebars
4. Automatic gearbox
With all adaptions to suit riders with a hand or arm disability we strongly recommend the addition of a high quality steering damper and when necessary, Velcro glove to hand-bar grip |
So you can get geared bikes adapted if you want. |
