Took my test again today and made a complete bulls up , was told to turn left and carried straight on end up having to do another U-turn , and a couple of other occasions he had two repeat himself as I seem to have been in a daze, I think five hours training beforehand was probably a bit much, had a rear wheel skid when turning right (only minor), and pulled out in front of a car although it was on a bend so I couldn't really see it until it was too late !
Bollocks I thought another £110 and a fortnight to wait!
Then to my surprise he said, "I'm pleased to tell you you have passed", I couldn't believe my ears, the first time I took it I think I should have passed, on this occasion I was surprised ! He said he took in consideration my previous test riding and that I only failed for indicating too late! Hooray buy that man a pint !
Right I'm getting pissed to celebrate, was planning to get pissed either way pass or fail (any excuse will do) Very Happy

Nice one.

I failed my first test because I changed what I did, rather than doing what I initially indicated to do.

They may well indicate stuff like you said as a bad radio connection.

You pulled out in front of a car?

...And you still passed?

Tell me... What does an examiners d1ck taste like? Wink

Romperstomper1 you ever heard of a joke? Everyone takes the piss out of each others bikes. There is no need to rate mine and Dodsi's post as abusive! I think if you look under the ratings guidelines about the definition of abusive it will not say anything about giving it to people who do not like your bike! Pratt..............

Now where is the enemy button? Laughing

'This post is Abusive:

Use this reason when a poster uses extremely bad / racist language in an attack on another user, or gets way too personal in an argument.'

That was just for the benefit of RomperStomper1, who has given every one of mine and Dodsi's posts on this topic an abusive rating. Go on, do it again.......... Laughing It makes me feel all warm and loved........

Romper Stomper (you've now got out of Alamosa Juvenile Hall then? Razz ), you can't expect everyone to like your ped/bike/two wheeled thing, it'd be boring if everyone had the same taste.

Well done on passing your test. Thumbs Up

What's the point of doing the test if it's not on a geared bike? Honestly, I cannot see the point. Are you never going to ride a geared bike? Seems like a waste of time and money to me. Congrats on the pass anyway Thumbs Up

The point was because he wanted to do the test which is the only reason anyone needs to do their test.

If he hadn't done his test then he'd not be allowed to ride his DNA 180cc but as he's done his test he can. Seems quite reasonable really.

Just because you don't see the interest or attraction in riding bike X doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same way.

But if you're going to spend the time and money to do the test why not do it on a geared bike and increase you options for the future? He still could have ridden his bike, but when he wants to move to a bigger bike, which the chances are will be geared, he could. Would save the hassle of doing another test.

I can see perfectly why he wants to ride his bike, but I bet he will move to a geared bike one day.

Okay just to clarify, I did my test on an automatic because I was buying an automatic and had to do it in order to ride a 180 !

The reason I didn't learn on a manual is because due to a permanent wrist injury I couldn't manage a manual clutch so have no option, a gilera 180 dna is the nearest I can get to a normal bike, I don't like traditional look scooters.

I think the idea of a twist and go bike is brilliant and excellent for people with disabilities (or people that can't be bothered to change gear), I get very pissed off when people dis this bike giving it a bad reputation (especially when their opinion wasn't asked in the first place) . Due to low popularity they have stopped importing the 180 and 125 into the UK , leaving no real alternative replacement .

None of us are infallible and maybe one day you yourself maybe looking for a twist and go bike ! (Especially if you ride like a nutty)

Hope this clears up any misunderstandings !

That clears that up Thumbs Up I wasn't dissing the bike at all - I honestly was wondering why you took the automatic test.

Just a though for future bikes; there are various systems that could allow you to change gear without using the clutch.

I believe you can also get a right handed clutch (use the rear brake when coming to a stop, I presume).

I have had a one handed bloke go past me at quite some speed on track (at first I thought he was taking the piss, with one hand off the bars!)

On the "National Association for Bikers with a Disability" website page about bike adaptations it says:

NADB site wrote:
Left arm (amputation, Brachial Plexus Lesion, reduced strength/ mobility):

In most cases this is simply a matter of adapting the clutch operating lever and some minor modification to the left side switch-gear.
There are several ways to adapt the clutch lever depending on the severity of the riders’ disability. In the case of total loss of or loss of use of the left hand, the clutch lever must be re-sited elsewhere. Most commonly this is a matter of transferring the lever to the right handle bar either in tandem with the brake lever or by replacing the brake lever with the clutch lever and putting the brake on a thumb lever. This lever would have to be made by an engineer, as we do not have this as a kit yet.
Another option is a foot operated clutch although this tends to be less common and would probably require ‘forward’ controls, but can be used in conjunction with a Kliktronic push button gear changer.
A further option is to opt for one of the ‘automatic’ machines such as the Honda 400cc and 750cc auto models.
In the case of reduced mobility or strength in the left hand other options would be, an Easy Clutch kit or Hydraulic to cable kit, which makes the use of cable operated clutches much lighter, or a thumb operated clutch lever.
1. Right-hand thumb brake, using front brake lever as clutch
2. Right-hand twin levers
3. Left foot clutch with a push button gear changer on handlebars
4. Automatic gearbox

With all adaptions to suit riders with a hand or arm disability we strongly recommend the addition of a high quality steering damper and when necessary, Velcro glove to hand-bar grip

So you can get geared bikes adapted if you want. Thumbs Up
