Just wondering if anyone on here uses these Jis screwdrivers (Japanese industry standard). They Seem a bit expensive and ive always used a Philips. ____________________ 'Great Britain' Love it https://img43.imageshack.us/img43/3967/67004290.gif or Leave it |

Yep. I use one of these:-

A non-JIS is ok if the screw head is perfect, and it isn't too tight. But I've had a few screws (brake master cylinder, chain guard) where I'd struggled to get them off whilst the proper screwdriver just works. |

No, they cam out because you're using a Philips in a JIS screw - not only do Philips drivers have the wrong set of angles and tip profile, they're designed to cam out at a certain torque.
JIS drivers have become easier to find in the last couple of years, I got these......... https://ruggedroads.co.uk/epages/00cbb604-5d1c-407e-8207-580e14387ec5.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/00cbb604-5d1c-407e-8207-580e14387ec5/Products/%2212705/6/8%22
A quick hack can be to grind the point off a Philips (not a Posi Driv) but you can't beat the real thing. I've even used JIS drivers to get out screws that have previously been mangled by using the wrong driver.
While I'm at it, there's a couple of popular misconceptions about JIS screws;
1/ They're only used by Honda - no, I've seen them on bikes from all of the big four.
2/ They have a dot stamped in them as an identifier - no, not always, so don't get caught out. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Yes I use them. I have a set of three vessel ones. They are awesome and definately worth the money.
They are better then a phillips screwdriver on phillips screws too. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
