Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out how to fix the damaged parts after dropping the bike. I believe it will start to rust if I don't repair those. I have included the video for reference.

Do you have any advice?

Yes, you will want to cover those ASAP. A light sanding then paint on the black bits (gloss and satin as indicated, £1 shop is fine) and clear lacquer on the shiny bits.

Try not to sweat it, bikes get dropped and that could have been worse.

Do I need to use something to fill up the holes as well? What type of paint would you use for the exhaust so it doesn't burn?

If you want it to look pristine then you'll have to fill and match the paint. Chances are you'll just go and drop it on the other side though. I'd be more concerned about covering the metal ASAP.

You can use VHT / stove enamel / barbecue paint on the exhaust, but end cans don't get super hot so you might get away with £1 shop.

Unless you live on the Isle of Portland I wouldn't worry about it. None of my exposed areas started to rust.

The engine crash bars might rust but the rest is fine. It's just battle scars, wear them with pride it just adds character and maximises bants.

I painted everything, thanks for advice guys. It doesn't look perfect but I was not willing to pay the shop to do it.

Good effort. I'd have done same, Roger's advice was the right option.

Winter in Scotchland can be like riding on salt flats.

Granted, OP's not in Scotchland it's not winter. Wink

What paint did you use OP? I have a small mark on my frame as the only remaining reminder of a recent spill.
My frame is a satin black colour. I don't even mind buying 'proper' touch up paint from Yamaha if it will match in
right. Failing that, does anyone know if the chips away type guys do bikes?

Can you find colour codes for the other bits (frame/forks etc.)?

I've found a metallic matte black which seems about right, but I'd like to know for certain if it's a perfect match
before I pull the trigger.

Let me know if you find a way. I've only found colour codes for the main bits (tank etc.), where there are plenty of sellers on eBay willing to sell you a very expensive tiny touch-up pot.

I thought Yamaha stopped doing touch-up paints years ago?

I have been told RS Paints do a touch up for the, sort of, graphite black on my frame and engine, but pricey.
