Hello, I got a Orion 125cc 4 stroke and used it over a year now and works great.
But now im thinking of buying a 250 Yamaha yzf 4 stroke.
Is it worth the upgrade?

Yep.

I went from 125 to 250 and the difference was night and day. The 250 was a much more use able bike. I actually miss that 250 in some ways...very fun bike to ride.

No, wait, the other one: YES.

Why limit yourself to a 250 though? It looks like Norway is following EU licensing:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving_licence_in_Norway

Which means that you'll probably have to sit your tests on a 400cc+ (in practice ~500cc+) bike. You might as well get a 35kW CBR500R rather than a 250.

Theres one in the road behind mine with a tiny carbon race can on it. Its massively better sounding than a totally unsilenced 125 4stroke blat box, but this one is too loud for me.

A nice revvey IL2 does sound quite good to me, but I suppose if your going to have a twin it really should sound like a 90degree V engine for aural bliss.

I get you triple owners though, as they can sound a bit epic very easily!

Semi-seriously, I'm having a great laugh on my Ninja 250. It's not fast in bike terms, but it's enough to keep up with traffic, it just loves being thrashed to the limiter, and it'll convince you that it's going much quicker than it really is until you look at the speedo. One surprising thing is how flexible the engine is as well: 30mph in 6th is actually usable (inB4 gearing).

I wouldn't want one as an only bike. I'd be looking for just a little more, i.e a Ninja 300, YZF-R3 or an RC-390. But when you're looking to just go and abuse the hell out of a bike, less can be more.

If you've been a very bad person and need punishing then you should stay with the 125.
If not then Yes you should get a bigger bike!

Proper 250's don't have cams.

Small capacity 4t's are gash.

Is the yzf250 an everyday bike? Confused I thought they were a bit specialised.

Doesn't look that tricksy. 60 x 44.1 bore/stroke is more strokey than 64 x 41.2 Ninja, power is up just a little bit (peaking at 12,000 rpm, granted), torque is about the same (and they both peak at 10,000). Can't see why it wouldn't be as usable on the road.

I can't find (be bothered looking for) service intervals, although I vaguely recollect that the R3 is pretty poor in that respect.

If it's got the R3 geometry, it'll be surprisingly sitty-uppy as well, much more so than the YZF-R125.

I think they are/were quite common in some other countries. They never appeared on the UK market though and I've only seen one irl a few years ago.
