Doing online research ive found the Scala Rider QZ seems to fit the bill for me, but has anyone got any other recommendations? |
No other recommendations, but this is the one I went for, due to it being a well-known name and this particular model not being the most expensive one around. Paired with a Garmin 345, its volume is more than adequate (in an HJC RPHA full-face helmet), had no problems with it thus far, from a purely nav. use view. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

All the best/more common/easy to find bluetooth audio kits are Scala something or other.
Check compatibility for your satnav on the scala website to match their shit with your shit. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

The mic on the QZ doesn't seem to be removable, unless I'm missing something. I just tuck each end behind the cheek pads at the front though, stuck with the sticky pad at one end; not ideal but no problems, stays put. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

On the Qz the mic is removable, you have to remove a couple of screws first. Great device if you just want nav, calls and music, use with in ear phones for best effect, included speakers are shit and next to useless if you use earplugs, decent in ear headphones do the job of both.
I'd recommend the Qz also, can be had for around 80 quid new, less second hand. |

Oh ok, I'll have to take another look.
I find the speakers fine but I don't use earplugs with them. With the extra cushioning provided, I find they block wind noise fairly well in my HJC, but then I never have used earplugs. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
