Just got myself a Tomtom Rider 420, using my phone didnt suit me for navigation so i bit the bullet and paid the ridiculous price that all motorcycle sat navs are.

Only thing left is to get the voice prompts in my ears, its got to be bluetooth and im looking for something thats going to give me good quality audio, not really bothered about playing music while I ride at the moment but I want decent audio quality incase I ever fancy trying it.

So.

Dont need Rider to rider coms
Dont want to talk on my phone

Do want good audio
Do want helmet mounted speakers and not in ear (less faff)
Want to be able to pair with satnav and my phone at same time. in case i ever want to play music from my phone.

Doing online research ive found the Scala Rider QZ seems to fit the bill for me, but has anyone got any other recommendations?

No other recommendations, but this is the one I went for, due to it being a well-known name and this particular model not being the most expensive one around. Paired with a Garmin 345, its volume is more than adequate (in an HJC RPHA full-face helmet), had no problems with it thus far, from a purely nav. use view.

All the best/more common/easy to find bluetooth audio kits are Scala something or other.
Check compatibility for your satnav on the scala website to match their shit with your shit. Smile

Another for Scala, have an old one that I have used with all my TomToms. Still going strong.

Scala Rider Q1 unit here - of significance to you is that my use is identical to yours; that means (probably like you) I don't really want a permanent microphone stuck out the front of my helmet. I can confirm that (a) the mic is removable and (b) the unit then still functions fine in listen-only mode. It's an irritation that the mic socket is then open to the elements (why?) but judicious use of a blob of Blu-tac and some duct tape has solved that with no problems to date.

Audio quality is great.

The mic on the QZ doesn't seem to be removable, unless I'm missing something. I just tuck each end behind the cheek pads at the front though, stuck with the sticky pad at one end; not ideal but no problems, stays put.

I've got an Interphone f4 and f5, the older style, on my lids. No problems there, I'd recommend them but it's only what I know. Not fussed on the Chinese cheapo ones

On the Qz the mic is removable, you have to remove a couple of screws first. Great device if you just want nav, calls and music, use with in ear phones for best effect, included speakers are shit and next to useless if you use earplugs, decent in ear headphones do the job of both.

I'd recommend the Qz also, can be had for around 80 quid new, less second hand.

Oh ok, I'll have to take another look.
I find the speakers fine but I don't use earplugs with them. With the extra cushioning provided, I find they block wind noise fairly well in my HJC, but then I never have used earplugs.
