Help with an RG125 / General Help

morning all, i bought a black RG125 (think its FUN) in november, did 45 miles on it, and the thing decided to just cut out... bought it a long way from where i live, and would cost me 2 much to have taken it back,so i decided to leave it as it is, and work on it in my spare time. however, i have hit a dead end.

when it died on me, i tried to restart it, and the starter motor started, but it didnt kick in to the main engine, so it wouldnt start. i have still got this problem despite replacing the HT lead, the plug, and (longshot i know) recharging the battery.

at first i thought it could be the CDI unit malfunctioning, so i tested it with a digital multimeter to the settings in the manual, and they gave no readouts. so i rang around and found someone else with a CDI unit for the same model, and he tested it with the same results, nothing! (why they put the readings in the owners guide, i dont know! since i now gather u need some specialist equipment to test them!) anyway.. any other ideas for me to test for when i get home in a few weeks?

anyone had problems like this before?

Addition: i just remembered, the spark plug doesnt spark at all... but fuel getting in to the chamber.

dunno what help that will be, but thought it may be important... <--- useless mechanic! learning!

Surely it's a possibility both CDI's are dead? a knackered CDI could cause this..

Broken wiring somewhere in the ignition wiring, bad earth contacts?

the registration doc says it was registered made in '95.. so theres no kick start on it.. tried bump starting it, and that didnt work either.

not possible both CDI's were faulty, as the one he tested he had just taken off his working bike.

first time i ever holed a piston on my rs125, it just stoped.

Becasue of the extreme lack of compression, the starter motor just spun really quick, and it FELT like it was not turning the engine over.

check your compression !

or take your spark plug out, and shine a tourch downinto the barrel and see how the piston looks.

Did you mean the starter motor actually started, as in it does spin ?

or it just makes an offended moan like its constipated ?
