Could somebody here who owns a Bandit please tell me what tank range in miles what you get out of the bike. Me and my Dad are comparing between the Hornet and Bandit. The most my Dad has got out of a full tank is 100 Miles and then he had to switch to reserve.

Thanks.

100 miles?? For a hornet??

I'll take the hornet off my "possiblie next bike" list then!

I don't own a bandit but I've heard it's good for between 120 and 140 before hitting reserve Thumbs Up Thats the 600cc version of course.

Oh yeah 600 version. It's not that the Hornet has a bad MPG it's about the same, it just has a smaller tank to hold the fuel in. I think. Thumbs Up

Hi

Not got a 600 Bandit, but do have a 1200. Same size tank I think. The most I have ever got from a tank is 186 miles squeezing in 17.45L. Most it has ever taken was 18.5L (err, bit more than the tank is meant to hold).

Would expect about the same from the 600.

I generally get a bit over 45mpg, although while running in the played with engine it did rather better before the carbs were properly set up (53.9mpg on a long run).

The Hornet is known for having a pathetic tank range, from a combination of poor fuel consumption and a fuel tank size more suited to a radio control car.

All the best

Keith

I have had 110 out of my hornet before switching to reserve, i normally fill up every 100 miles, havnt realy had a problem with it. Tank range isnt realy something that makes me buy a bike. There are so many petrol stations about your never to far from one if you need to fill her up.

Hi

I have '98 Hornet - have run to reserve a few times now. Always about 105 miles.

Not a real problem though - unless you're going on a long tour.

I hit reserve anywhere between 158 and 178 miles on my bike and I find that really annoying...thats about 55mpg or so...guess it's just because I've been doing so much riding recently. Hmm... Confused

Bugger. Really like the hornet too, just couldn't stand that tank range.

I can do about 150 before my reserve indicator starts falshing on the clocks. But then, it does only give me about 20km to find a petrol station afer that! Laughing

Newer hornets have a slightly bigger tank at 18lt. May get you 110-115 to reserve normally.

Hi

For me it is a 55 mile round trip to work, so a range of under 165 (plus a bit more for safety) means I have to fill up every other day rather than every 3 days. Cannot be bothered with the wasted time hanging round waiting to pay.

Had 211 miles from a tank on the FZ750 (18.77L), 191 from the FZR600 (16.78L) and 230 from the GPZ500 (17.39L). Reserve is pretty generous on most bikes, although the GPZ has a habbit of getting water in the tank which makes it a pain. The Bandit will do over 40 miles on reserve.

Best for fuel range was the early Aprilia AF1 that had about a 5 gallon tank and did about 55mpg. Taking it very easy (nipped the engine up and was waiting for a new piston to be delivered) one week I managed 300 miles on a tank.

All the best

Keith

I think a KLR650 is looking even more appealing, if a Hornet only does 100 miles before fill up. If you get 50mpg out of a KLR, it supposedly got a tank which can hold up to 6.1 gallons! Shocked 300 miles to the tank? Better than even a CG! (just twice as expensive...)

My ER-5 gets about 130 miles to a tank (15L) then you have a 2L reserve to use.

depends on the riding, if i am on a motorway/duel carrigeway I can get near 180 miles.

Depends how you ride. This is my worst. Sometimes I get down to 27mpg.

On the GPZ I had been recently getting about 150-60 miles to a tankful which is about 16ltrs usable with a 2ltr reserve (18 litre tank if you can't count Razz)

But now the carbs have been balanced and I no longer have a holy exhaust I have noticed I am getting more and more to a tank latest was 190 miles to £13/ 16 litres of BP Super Unleaded. Smile

I would have to agree with Kickstart. My bandit 600 did between around 130 miles to reserve, but the reserve is long. Would be happy riding to 160, prob not far beyond.

Best mileage - VFR800 251 miles 19.7litres of fuel (could not find petrol station, nearly all motorway. I get at least 175, usually 200+

Lifes to short to spend it filling up. Smile

Does anyone know if you can get uprated fuel tanks (capacity)?

I've always filled up when I've done 100 miles on all my bikes. Just something I use as a guide line.
